The core surgical team at King's College Hospital in London consisted of Mr Thomas and six other people, all with highly specialised roles.
Nick Thomas: Surgeon
Mr Nick Thomas is a consultant neurosurgeon at King's College Hospital, with a particular interest in pituitary tumours and complex spinal surgery.
Sinan Barazi: Senior Specialist Registrar
Sinan is a Senior Specialist Registrar in Neurosurgery. He assisted Mr Thomas with the surgery. One of his key roles was to operate the endoscopic camera and make sure that Mr Thomas could see everything he needed to see throughout the surgery.
Helen Noble: Theatre Practitioner
During the operation, Helen was responsible for the endoscopic camera stack which the surgeon Mr Thomas used during the operation.
Jackie Jackson: Theatre Practitioner
Jackie was responsible for the surgical equipment being used during the operation, making sure in advance they were clean, sterile and in proper working order.
Steve Lam: Neuro-theatre Co-ordinator
Steve was responsible for looking after the neuro-theatres and making sure everything ran smoothly.
Steve Tiszai: Anaesthetist
Steve put Christine to sleep and looked after her throughout the surgery and afterwards.
Gary Edden: Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)
Gary assisted the anaesthetist with a number of tasks during the operation.
