Mark and Dean
Mark, 31, and his 28-year-old partner Dean are the new landlords of a countryside pub in Hereford. They enjoy the quintessential landlord lifestyle, but at 16 stone and 17 stone respectively, it's taking its toll on their waistline and health.
With no kitchen in their flat both men take advantage of the pub's hotplate for lunch and snack on treats from the kitchen all day. When Gillian arrives she heads straight for the walk-in fridge and finds it filled with cheeses, pâté, processed meats, ready meals and chips.

Gillian asks Mark to keep a food diary for a week and for Dean to monitor his alcohol intake. Mark's diary includes five chunky cheese sandwiches, three packets of sweets and six doughnuts. There are no vegetables recorded for the entire week. Gillian tells Mark that he is doubtlessly nutrient deficient especially in B vitamins and that he'll end up with high blood pressure. Mark admits that he already has it. Dean's drink diary includes 15 glasses of wine, 28 pints of lager and 12 double gins - 83 units or four times the recommended amount. Dean puts his drinking down to socializing, but is shocked by the amount.
Gillian delivers a further shock for the boys when she converts Mark's monthly intake of fat into the equivalent in crisps and fills their lounge with the result - an astounding 834 packets of crisps. At the lab Dr Sanj confirms that Mark is low in B vitamins, especially B3. He lists the symptoms of headaches, fatigue and irritability, which Mark fits.
Now knowing more about the boys' health, Gillian sets to work devising an eight-week diet plan for them. They are banned from the pub's food and instead must eat foods full of proteins, good fats and B vitamins.

Week one and the boys take to juicing straight away but are relying on the restaurant staff to prepare their meals for them. Gillian isn't happy with this, so she shows them a few simple recipes and tells them they must prepare them for themselves. Mark takes up exercise, while Dean finds a passion for cooking, and by week five Mark's enthusiasm has rubbed off and they're both being more active.
By the end of the eight weeks, Mark and Dean are new men. Mark has lost a staggering three stone and Dean has lost two and half stone, the headaches have stopped and they both feel happier and more confident.
