You Are What You Eat
Jacquie
Episode 7 - Jacquie Pearce

Jacquie Pearce, 37-year-old, lives in Leamington Spa with her husband Mark and their two young children.

Jacquie was slim when she was younger but since the death of both her parents five years ago she has piled on the pounds through comfort eating. Jacquie’s bread binging has taken her to 18 stone and she is moody and miserable, suffering from PMT and headaches. Mark wants to see his wife return to her slimmer and happier self.

Mark has secretly kept a food diary of all the foods Jacquie has eaten in a week which includes: five slices of bread, six crumpets, eight slices of toast and two muffins, all with butter, three donuts, six slices of garlic bread and six chocolate biscuits.

To shock Jacquie out of her carb-craving Gillian shows her a wheelbarrow full of dough, weighing eight-stone, equivalent to the excess weight she is carrying.

After a colonic and consulting her doctor, Jacquie starts on the new regime. She finds it demanding of her time and effort at first but is determined to stick to it. Now her diet is in order, Jacquie must get more exercise. Gillian takes the family to their local indoor ski centre where one hour on the slope can burn up to 800 calories.

After eight weeks Jacquie has lost a remarkable two and a half stone and 15 inches from her waist. She has more energy and her PMT and headaches are now in the past. Mark is delighted and says the experience has had a positive effect on the entire family.
