This week, Gillian meets Anil and Afshan, a pair of sofa-loafing lovers who are feeding their affection for each other with comfort food - a habit that has set Afshan’s weight soaring to over 14 stone and Anil’s to 17 ½ stone.
Gillian accosts the tubby twosome in the supermarket and is appalled to catch them filling their trolley with processed meats, chocolate, doughnuts and bottles of alcohol. They share everything and spend every evening cosied up to each other on the sofa scoffing chips, ice cream, cheese, kebabs and Anil’s favourite, burger and chips. In a year they get through a whopping 365 burgers and 104 hot dogs between them.
Gillian is unsurprised to learn the couple are constantly tired, and have no energy for anything of an evening other than watching telly. Their listlessness extends to their love life. They both have low libidos and Afshan complains that Anil’s tummy gets in the way, and hers is not much better.
Gillian realises that this pair need a big shock, so she prepares them a special treat to show what’s in their beloved hotdogs, including snouts, fat, blood clots and ears, a grotdog not a hot dog.

Shocked into action, Anil and Afshan take up the McKeith challenge and agree to swap their processed sugar and salt laden junk for fresh fruit, vegetables, beans and pulses.
After a week Anil and Afshan are finding some of the foods tasteless and lacking in flavour. Gillian gives them a lesson in herbs to show them how they can liven up their foods without adding salt.
Without the booze to liven up their spare time they’re bored. They’ve forgotten how to enjoy themselves without a drink, which is a sorry sight for Gillian. She shows them they can have a laugh together whilst burning a few calories at the gym and playing badminton.
After eight weeks they have rediscovered their love for life, and each other. They have both lost 1 ½ stone and lead happier, fuller lives.
