1. Episode One: Yvonne Grant
Iif you really are what you eat, then Yvonne Grant should be sweeter than a jammy dodger. However Gillian predicts her chemical and sugar ridden diet is creating a different personality altogether: 'A person eating this kind of rubbish...would have to have poor memory...be depressed, they would have to be right moody grumpy little things.' Gillian doesn't pull any punches.
Yvonne weighs in at a huge 17.5 stone and is a self-confessed food addict, who thinks nothing of putting away a whole sponge cake in one sitting. Her eating is out of control and Gillian has just eight weeks to revolutionise Yvonne's bad habits, such as her preferred menu for breakfast - the inventive combination of fizzy drinks and crisps.
Having kept a food diary for one week in order to chart her daily food consumption, Yvonne is then made to face the reality of her sugar addiction and its effects.
Gillian inspects a sample of Yvonne's stool and prescribes colonic irrigation (which feels 'quite good actually') in order to begin the process of detoxification. She is then put on an eight week eating plan loaded with healthy foods, such as berries and lentils, which replace her preferred chocolates and curries.
Eight weeks later, Gillian is stunned when she meets Yvonne for her follow-up. Despite her protests, Yvonne has lost 2 stone in weight, dropped 3 dress sizes and is glowing with health! Adding to that, she no longer feels depressed or anxious and has found the energy to walk her dog.
Nice work!
