These are the terms and conditions of the Wife For William "People' Princess" web site competition. Please read them in conjunction with the privacy and data protection notice.

The Wife For William web competition is a free to enter competition ('the Competition') which is open to all users of 16 or older. The Competition is run by the Channel Four Television Corporation of 124 Horseferry Road, London SW1P 2TX ('We', 'Our', or 'Us'). By sending in your photograph, or allowing a photograph of you to be submitted, and as a condition of participation, you hereby agree to abide by the terms and conditions of participation as set out below ('Terms and Conditions'). Entrants will also need to provide contact details and such proof of eligibility as may be requested.

Terms And Conditions

  1. All entrants to the Competition must be at least 16 (sixteen) years old. To be eligible for the Prizes You must be a resident of the UK. However, non UK Residents may participate in the Competition but shall not be entitled to the Prizes. Proof of age or residency may be required. The Competition is open to men and women.

  2. The photograph ('the Photograph') You ('You' or 'Your') send in or agree to being submitted by someone else must be of You. If it is not of You, You hereby warrant that You have permission from the person pictured in the Photograph. You may be required to show evidence of such permission. If you are submitting someone else's Photograph the Prize shall be awarded to the person pictured and not You.

  3. If You do not have permission or falsely claim to be the subject of the Photograph and the person pictured requests that their picture be taken down we will do so immediately and the entry will be disqualified. By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions You hereby warrant that all information submitted by You is accurate, current and complete.

  4. Photographs will only be accepted in the formats detailed elsewhere on this Web Site (as defined below). We will not accept Photographs by mail or fax and cannot return or acknowledge any Photographs submitted in this manner.

  5. You warrant that You own all copyright in the Photograph or that You have permission from the copyright owner to make use of the Photograph in this way.

  6. You warrant that the Photograph is not defamatory of anyone nor will it infringe the right to privacy of any person.

  7. By submitting the Photograph You give Us an irrevocable licence to use the Photograph in all media (whether now in existence or hereinafter invented) including but not restricted to on-line (i.e. web site), all forms of television, print publishing etc. throughout the Universe in perpetuity. You understand that Your Photograph may appear on the Wife For William web site (the 'Web Site') and television.

  8. You hereby indemnify Us against any claims of whatever nature that arise as a result of any breach by You of any of these terms and conditions or any warranty offered by You hereunder.

  9. The Photograph will be put on the Web Site as soon as is reasonable for Us to do so after You submit it. However We do not offer any warranties as to when the Photograph will be put on the Web Site.

  10. We reserve the right to refuse to put up the Photograph without explanation to You. We will not put up any photographs which in Our opinion are obscene, pornographic or not in good taste or of anyone who appears to be under 16 (sixteen), unless you provide official proof of age.

  11. The Competition will begin on February 5th 2004 and will end on March 27th 2004 ('the Term'). At Our discretion the Competition may be continued after the Term.

  12. The Competition will be adjudicated weekly; 27th February and 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th March 2004. The winners will be those two contestants who at 17.00 hrs on each of the dates set out above have the highest average score.

  13. In order to be eligible to be a Winner Your Photograph must have received at least 10 votes prior to the adjudication dates as set out in Clause 12 above.

  14. Although the Winners' Photographs will remain on the Web Site for the Term, a Winner will not be entitled to the Winner's Prize more than once during the Term.

  15. We may reset Your score once You have been a Winner (whether You have claimed Your Prize or not) in order that other participants may win the Prizes. In addition we reserve the right to remove Photographs of or reset scores of participants that have been on the Site for longer than one month if We feel it is necessary for the smooth running of the Competition.

  16. If You wish to withdraw a Photograph and submit another You may do so. However more than one photograph of each contestant on the Web Site at any one time is not permitted and Your entry will be disqualified if it is discovered that You have submitted more than one photograph of the same person at the same time.

  17. On notice from You by email that states your player name, We will take down your photograph if You so request.

  18. The prizes ('the Prizes') will usually be as advertised on the Web Site. However We reserve the right to change the Prizes for any reason. Non-UK Residents shall not be entitled to receive the Prizes.

  19. We reserve the right to terminate the Competition at any time without notice or further recourse to You. We reserve the right to re-set the scores at the end of each adjudication date as set out in Clause 12 hereto.

  20. These Terms, the standard Channel 4 competition terms and conditions, and all other general terms of use of the Web Site ("General Terms") apply to Your use of the Competition. We reserve the right to modify the General Terms or these Terms And Conditions at any time and without notice to You or any other users. We may add to, change, delete or end Our or Your use of the Web Site at any time. The Web Site may be temporarily unavailable from time to time for maintenance or other reasons.

  21. The Winner will be contacted by e-mail and/or telephone as provided by You in the registration of your entry. We reserve the right to choose another Winner if You fail to accept the Prize within twenty four (24) hours of notification.

  22. We offer no guarantees as to Your entry or continued participation in the Competition or any future earnings and reserve the right to refuse or reject any Photographs at any time at Our discretion.

  23. We reserve the right to use the Winner's name and Photograph for publicity purposes and to announce it and use it on the Web Site and/or during television transmissions. Additionally we reserve the right to use your name and Photograph within any ancillary exploitation (including but not limited to print publication, video, DVD etc) of the Wife For William television show or Web Site without payment to You.

  24. In the event of any dispute concerning the Competition, our decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered in to. We retain the right (at our sole discretion) to disqualify any entrant who fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions.

  25. We cannot accept any responsibility or liability for damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by You by entering the Competition or as a result of accepting any Prize. We are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, communication systems, computer systems, servers, computer equipment, software failure, or the failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, telephone lines or at any web site, or any combination of the same, including any injury or damage to Your or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in conjunction with the Competition. Nothing shall exclude Our liability for death or personal injury as a result of Our negligence.

  26. No employees of any company or person connected with Wife For William or the Competition shall be entitled to win the Prizes.

  27. Notwithstanding the foregoing You agree not to apply for any injunctive relief and You accept that recovery of damages will provide a full and appropriate remedy for any loss or damage incurred by You.

  28. This Competition is subject to the law of England and Wales and You submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
