Thursday 17 April
Today’s a sad day. I’ve had a great time on The Salon. Best time of my life! I’ve learnt a lot and have gained great confidence and experience and have made very good friends. It really has been a pleasure to do and lots of fun. I always knew this sort of programme would make great TV and they chose great people to take part. Was my ultimate dream to move to London and get into TV so I was on cloud 9 when I got on The Salon. Was hard work but I did it.
Couldn’t believe how popular it got and then got extended an extra 6 weeks. Hope the viewers have enjoyed watching us going through the emotions, the highs and lows. Thanks for being so supportive to me when I was having panic attacks. It helped a lot especially knowing there are other people put there that suffer too.
Great to receive all the nice letters and presents off you and to the people who come on the show, I hope you had a wonderful experience. Thanks for watching and making The Salon a great success. Hope to see you all again in the future TV. Lots of love and thanks again. xxxSonjaxxx
Wednesday 16 April - pm
Ah – can’t believe it. Were the only ones who turned up. We were in The Salon for ½ hour on our own, brill fun. Wondered where everyone was, then they all burst through the doors and laffed. Was a joke for getting them on April Fools. I thought it was great so I stayed in it all day. What a laff. I was boiling hot though in that catsuit. Then to make the day even better my twin cousin came in. We’re so close and alike in every way. She’s great. Was like winning the lottery when she came in. I love my family and friends. Excellent day – fab Clients, brill fun. Thanks for the Easter eggs! xxx
Wednesday 16 April - am
Oh yes! I feel on a high. My favourite - fancy dress! The taxi driver gave me a funny look as I got in the cab in a PVC catsuit, whiskers and ears! I explained it's fancy dress but he wasn't convinced. Am off to AJ's this morning to help him get ready. I can't wait to see what he looks like as Mickey Mouse!
Tuesday 15 April
Fun day today - had a great laugh with Mel and AJ. Shaved a man's hair off for charity! Watched my best clips on video at the end of the day. Oh God! They know who broke the ironing board now!!!
Monday 14 April
Normal day today. I decided to run riot and surf the ironing board! Enjoyed teasing AJ. Me and Mel had a few mad fits again. Am looking forward to tonight. We're going to some award ceremony at the Dorchester - hosted by Emma Bunton! Great!
Fab night. Got photographed loads, free drinks. Beautiful place the Dorchester. Glad I didn't get stuck in the revolving doors when I went in like I did last time - felt a right tit.
Sunday 13 April
No Adee today. Had lots of long hair in and did a Britney tribute band - I curled her hair, trimmed it and Mel coloured it. Looked fab. Had great fun with Mel washing up. We always go mental at the end of the day. We had a mousse fight - wicked.
Watched the best moments of Vass and AJ on a TV in the meeting. Was great but sad it's ending. Soon we've got fancy dress as animals. I want AJ to come as a giraffe - would be hilarious!
Thursday 10 April
Suzanne's b'day today so she was surprised when a top jockey walked in with a big bouquet of flowers and a cake in the shape of a jockey's hat. Mel had her assessment! Had a fab day and we're all out tonight.
Wednesday 9 April
Feel confident and relaxed today. Before I was so tense. It was a great day. Enjoyed it. I did get anxious at one point but I did my little exercise and felt instantly calm. It’s amazing.
Did some fab haircuts, lots of chatting and cut one of the Chuckle Brother’s hair. They were so funny. Had a great laff. When I sat him on the vibrating chair, turned it up full whack and he nearly shot off! Aye get out ya bugga! xx
Tuesday 8 April
Have booked myself in at 3pm to have hypnotherapy to get rid of the anxiety. Got to do something before it gets really bad.
Tis 4:30pm now and that was really great. I was put into a deep sleep and I could still hear him talking but I was so relaxed. He said a lot of it is mind over matter so he planted a memory in my head, cleared my system and I felt when I awoke that a great weight had been lifted off. I felt so calm and not stressed.
Every time I feel het up now I have to concentrate on one part of the body – the stomach – then put my thumb and finger together and I instantly feel happy, calm and very, very relaxed. I can’t believe it. Tis all about your adrenalin and slowing it down. I recommend it to everyone who gets anxiety, panic attacks or claustrophobia. I even went in a lift yesterday! Ha! Your mind is so powerful and this hypnotist changes the way your mind thinks and takes away all bad thoughts and replaces them with happy, confident, calm ones.
Good luck to other sufferers. You can be cured. Go to a good hypnotist. Will be about £50/60 but I feel I can do anything now. I feel confident to go on a tube, lift etc and I don’t panic about anything. Before I felt het up al the time but I couldn’t care less now! Go for it! I’m in Sneek magazine now giving an interview about it. I will try and help anyone as much as I can. It shouldn’t be controlling your life. Love Sonja xxx

Didn’t go to work today. Had a very bad night’s suffering. Didn’t get to sleep till 5am.
Sunday 6 April
Felt on a massive high. Had a brill weekend. Great morning. Nice Clients. Did a fab mohican – dyed it red with black ends. I never plan my haircuts from the beginning – I plan them as I go along and I change my mind! So what! Was my idea to do black ends and red roots – I made a fab job.
I am very confident and was upset yet again at people interfering in my work! How dare Paul say not to do any more colours. I’ve been colouring 11 years. I just get Mel’s opinion cos I’ve not trained with the colour product we use on the show. I trained with Wella. Wish people would let me get on with it. Yet again I got wound up and upset so surprise, surprise I get a panic attack and it spoils the day. I have to go home!
Thursday 3 April
AJ isn’t well today so he’s not coming in. Boy George came in today. He looked fab with his glitter on. He had a manicure. Going to watch his show tonight – Taboo – should be fun.
Wednesday 2 April
Went out with The Salon group last night to a company magazine party. Was great fun. Lots of pictures taken – very crowded. Free drink!
AJ’s Birthday today. He makes me laugh. He gets so excited when he cuts the lemon in the morning and puts it in the water jug. I think I might roll him up in the carpet and leave him lying there and slap his head with a wet fish (joke).
Julie Goodyear from Corrie came in with champagne and cake and sang Happy Birthday to AJ. It was great. Then they surprised him and brought his sister into The Salon for a haircut and colour.
Very busy day! Great fun. Had a Client in who was hairphobic - didn't like hairdressers and felt panicky. I put her at ease and we had a laugh. She had a great time and loved her hair.
Tuesday 1 April
Came in wearing a sling saying I’d sprained my wrist! Everyone was sympathetic except Paul who sussed me straight away! Fab day, lots of fun. No tricks thankfully. I was glad when 12 came!
Adee’s back fit and well. Did some wicked haircuts. A lady brought a cake in which was very nice!
Monday 31 March
What a morning! Ricardo read out a letter and walked out. Saw it coming though. He did what he thought best. He wasn’t happy. It you’re not happy at work don’t suffer! Move on and be happy. He was a great friend and I wish him all the best. I will still keep in touch with him. We’re going out tonight in the West and to a magazine party and out with Boy George on Thursday so that will be fun.
Had nice Clients as usual. Lots of chatting. Love to hear what they have to say. Had a Blondie tribute lady in for bleach and chopping cut - just like Blondie’s hair. She had a fab voice and looked the image of her. A lad came in and played a song on his guitar especially for Carina. She was so embarrassed. Adee was ill. It was a very busy day with 2 stylists down but it was fun. Went for a drink with AJ last night – he’s wild when he’s out – soooo loud!
Sunday 30 March
Fantastic day – best day of the whole show! My mum and dad came in! What an excellent surprise. I was so shocked I didn’t expect it. I’ve just spent the weekend with them and they never said a word! Was for Mother’s Day. Mel’s mum and aunt came in and Jonathan’s mum and dad – they were lovely. Had champagne and chocolates.
Thanks for my flowers Joe – they are beautiful. Happy Mother’s Day – will be one I’ll never forget! :-)
Thursday 27 March
We've got a good morning, we get to find out how we're getting on. Someone's been analysing all of us, our body language etc. Should be interesting, we also find out about our assessment and how the clients are coping with their haircuts. Later we'll find out if Ricardo is staying or going.
Was very pleased with what they said about me! Lots of encouragement. They said I'm doing great!
Monday 24 March
Had easy day today. Did a wicked hair up. She wanted spikes so I backcombed her hair into spikes added some plaits and it looked well fab! Dyed a girl’s hair brown from white blonde. She was very pleased. Shaved a man’s beard off – he was a sheep shearer.
Had a great laugh with AJ – he’s soooo funny. 2 clowns came in and 1 was Carina’s model for a cut and blow. She hates clowns! Was so funny.
Had nothing to eat all day as I forgot to bring food in and had no money on me to get anything – oh God. Never been so starving in my life! Raided McDonalds as soon as I got out! Joined by Ricardo, Mel, Jonathan, John, Sabrina, Vass and Carina. Relaxing at home with a nice glass of wine.

Still feel a bit ill. Got a bad cough. Great day today. Mel and Jonathan are an item!
Did some great hair. Mel got some fab make-up. Ricardo is going to public vote. Please vote him to stay. He’s such a great character and my friend.
Thursday 20 March
Got flu this morning. Felt bit better in the afternoon so made a big effort and came in for the photo shoot. Was brill watching Carina getting made up and then we all had a group photo which was fun. Should be in Your Hair magazine.
Wednesday 19 March
Great day today. Did 2 long hairdressings - they were going to a ball. Did a wicked cut and colour on a lad’s hair and trimmed a lady’s hair which was way past her bum. Got a bottle of champagne off a Client.
The only down side about today is that I’ve got a horrible cold and keep having to blow my nose!
Had some crazy Clients in as usual and I apologise, I didn’t mean to say relationships are crap! Just came out wrong!
Went very quick today. The day was fun. Carina had her hair coloured and trimmed. She’s going on the cover of a hair magazine which is great. Had a wild man in who had his hair and beard dyed red. He was wild! Dressed all in bright yellow – you won’t miss him on the show!
Tuesday 18 March
Did photo shoot this morning. Went really well, should be in Sneak next week.
Was fun today, all the lights went out and we had to get lanterns in. The Salon looks great half lit up, would make a good night club.
Had a lady in having her nails done and she had vampire fangs in her mouth! She was dressed in black and covered in bats!

Monday 17 March
John's started full time now and the Salon is a lot louder than usual! AJ is the man of the moment, he's so funny and sooo tall.
A lady came in today and I put her hair up. She's in Bollywood films and has just danced with Gareth Gates for Comic Relief 'Spirit in the Sky.'
Was very busy as usual. This morning we did first aid and I had to put Vass in the missionary position, oops, I meant the recovery position! Ricardo was hilarious giving the dummy mouth-to-mouth! AJ and Jonathan had haircuts. Got a photo shoot for Sneak Magazine tomorrow.
Sunday 16 March
Was a great day – not too busy. Brill to see AJ the tall dark Junior. He’s so funny – got a dry sense of humour. Found out today that John is coming in full time - great. I knew John from the very start of the auditions – we are good friends.
Did a brill hair up today. If you sleep and want your hair to stay great for the morning wrap a silk scarf round the hair – it works!
A friend told me about some comments on the website – felt upset as a lot of it’s untrue! At the end of the day it’s a TV show so I guess you’ve got to expect this sort of thing. Anyway celebrated St Patrick’s Day – was fun. Suzanne’s mum and sister were flown over form Ireland. AJ came in to start his week’s trial and Mel is Employee of the Week!
Thursday 13 March
Busy day today - loads of Clients. Got given Red Noses today and had to style their hair. I dyed mine blue and spiked it up. We had a competition at the end and Sabrina won!
Kerry from Atomic Kitten came in – colour with Mel and cut with Ricardo. She was very nice. Red Nose Day so everyone had a red piece of hair put in.
Wednesday 12 March
Fab day yesterday. Very busy – didn’t stop all day. Got told off for having my hair extensions done They wanted me to change my hair so as far as I’m concerned they can pay for it – tis fair!
Dyed a lady’s hair blue at the back. Those colours are rubbish – they lady’s hair needed 2 applications to get it that nice blue! Looked fab when it was done. Bet they’ll make a big deal out of it – you never know how a colour’s going to take on someone’s hair. Usually you’ve got to do it twice to get a rich deep colour! Depends on the porosity of the hair. So take no notice if they make it look bad. Some people like to make others look stupid. The Client was happy and she has to do it twice with her home colour.
Oh yeah, I’m paying my taxi fare - £200 a week – great isn’t it! Great to get help and sympathy when you need it. Really can’t face the Tube. All you panic attack sufferers will understand me. No-one else does! Feel very alone. No-one realises it would be great to talk to someone about it, but hey, battle it out alone as usual.
Great night last night. We did the quiz. Didn’t win but it was great fun. Sat with Nasty Nick and Alex from Big Brother. They love our show and are big fans!
Tuesday 11 March
Everyone has been sooo tired today. I think it’s cos it’s so hot in there. Adee’s got a bad throat.
Got bad news today saying I’ve got to pay for my taxis to and from The Salon. Going to cost well over a couple of hundred a week! Am fed up. Wish I could get on the tube again but that will bring my panic attacks again. So I can’t win!
Monday 10 March
This morning we started putting a red strand of hair in people’s hair and £1 goes to charity for Red Nose Day. I’m putting one in mine today.
Had a new girl on trial for Olly’s job. She was lovely and got on well. We’re having a different one in every day before we decide. Jon’s doing a great job too!
Had a man with a life sized puppet in today. He was really funny. The puppet had his hair done with a red strand too! We’ve been given the Bridget Jones knickers – the ones off the film!
Me, Suzanne, Vass, Sabrina and Mel are in a celebrity quiz tomorrow night in the West End – up against 30 teams of celebrities. Champagne and disco – should be fun. Hope we win!
Thank you for your letters, books, tapes, CDs regarding my panic attacks. Tis a very kind thought. I didn’t realise how many people there are out there who suffer from them. Don’t suffer – you can get help and overcome them. It’s all to do with breathing. Go and learn some breathing exercises – it works!
Sunday 9 March
Had hair extensions last night. A lot longer than last time. It's good to have a change and I've never had long hair. I feel like a long-haired dog!
New Receptionist came in. He's been in before and had a chest wax. He seems very nice, laid back. It's nice to have a bloke on reception for a change. Paul's been auditioning all day for someone to take Olly's place.
Was a good day today - great clients! Me and Mel created havoc in the colour room. I love throwing things about!
Hint, hint...we're getting short on chocolates! Only joking, I'm sure there's a chocolate pincher in here!
Can't forget Lucy who came in today. I was ill last time, so she wanted to come in today. She's lovely. Came in with her mum and had a Sonja haircut. It was long and curly before and I cut it like my hair but shorter and flicked out. She looked fab and was a pleasure to meet!
Thursday 6 March
Sandra got voted off and Olly’s going! Was a very sad day – loads and loads of flowers arrived.
Was a busy day. Lots of fun. Adee came in later, followed by the twins and Desmond. We all had a party at the end of the day so Carina and I spent ages getting Sandra’s hair washed and dried straight! 2 trolleys arrived with loads of food and champagne and wine!
Was great fun – Sandra got up and danced on her reception desk. Then Paul threw her over his shoulder and dropped her in the jacuzzi. Everyone had a laff. The twins got in with Olly. We tried to get Vass in – he dropped his towel and we saw something quite scary (say no more!) Desmond dried Sandra’s hair – again – was a fun and great party. We will miss them. The new receptionist starts Sunday!
Wednesday 5 March
Had a great 1st day back. Was brill yesterday. Thanks for all the support, cards etc and especially the book! I will read that definitely! Am back for 6 weeks so that’s brill. Will be awful seeing 2 go tomorrow.
Tis my late night tonight - was fun and busy. Desmond and John were in. It was brill and very loud. Adee went home – he’s got a bad throat so John came in. We all had a right laff. Lots of great Client. Worked hard. Had a Henna tattoo on the top of my arm – we had a Henna artist in and he was so quick. Tonight went very quick.
Tuesday 4 March
Back to work again after a week off. I feel much better but still mustn’t over do it. Got me paper bag with me just in case. Hopefully what I’ve learnt, e.g. not to over do it and to stay out of situations that bring them back, I should be ok. You’re always thinking about the next 1 though and once you start panicking again you can’t stop.
Will do my best now to control it. Mind over matter. If I can overcome them anyone can. Just get some help. Tis nothing to be bothered or embarrassed about. They are as common as a cold. Good luck xxx.

Paul rang today to see how I was. He’s renewing my contract. I don’t know who the 3 are who are up for the vote but I’m sad about Olly. I’ll miss him so much. We have all got very close like a family and Thursday will be awful seeing 2 people go. I will be devastated.

Relaxed all day today. Takes a long time to get over a panic attack. Takes a lot out of you. Keeping calm and trying to keep not thinking about it. Am feeling a lot better now I’ve rested and not seen anyone and not spoken to anyone. Just lots of rest.

Went to the Doctor this morning. Got some tablets to calm me down. Seem to be doing the trick. Learning some breathing techniques. Having a relaxing day – am totally exhausted.

Tuesday 25 Feb
Had a very relaxing night with Mel. It’s very important to be around calm people and also have a glass or two of red wine! Anyway bought some rescue remedy and sprayed some of that cos my chest still felt tight. Panic attacks don’t just go like that. I can have 2 or 3 in a day then the same again the next.
I thought I was coping till it got a bit hectic. I had 6 Clients in a row and no break. When the lady came in with the 5 dogs, which were running riot, I lost it. I felt dizzy and faint and this time I was sent home.
I came back to Derby with my family and had 3 days quietly in bed. No visitors, not even chatting on the phone. Totally quiet.
Panic attacks are both physically and mentally draining. So I had hot relaxing baths, went on my sun bed, did breathing exercises with a paper bag and ate chocolate – that relaxes you and makes you feel good! I had a few glasses of wine before bed to relax me too – it works! I must learn not to over do things and to relax more.
After 3 days total quiet and no visitors it’s best to try and get to normal again but take it slowly or you can get to the point where you panic if you see people. I know that sounds strange but it can sometimes set off agoraphobia. So take each day 1 step at a time and avoid situations that will make you worse. In my case the Tube!
If you feel 1 coming on get somewhere quiet and do some breathing exercises. It’s also a good idea to carry a brown paper bag everywhere with you. Don’t worry – thousands and thousands of people suffer from them. They are as common as a cold! If you get them really badly you can go to a panic organisation, which will help you, providing support – even over the telephone or come to your home. It’s worth it and might help them to stop. It’s not worth suffering is it!

Monday 24 Feb
Very bad start to the day. The tube as always was packed and was very hot. It stopped in the tunnel for over 10 minutes. I felt myself panicking and wanted to get off. I’ve always been able to control panic attacks but today they got the better of me cos I couldn’t escape the situation.
It was embarrassing having another one in The Salon but now I’m glad cos thousands of you have them too. I was amazed. With me they happen when I over do it and push myself too far. It’s your body’s way of coping.
I managed to get through the day – mind over matter as usual. You can’t let them get the better of you. It was hard but I stuck it out and got a bottle of champagne off Adee, which was lovely. I went home and stayed with Mel.
Sunday 23 Feb
Had a good day today. Nice clients. Vass got the award today for the week. Adee did a fab job at being Manager.
The down side was that 5 Clients didn’t turn up so we were sat about a lot. Mel brought me Kev the Gerbil – we made him a space suit and put him in a hammock which was a pair of knickers! We had to find something to do didn’t we! Oh yeah he’s got a wheel that he goes round in but we didn’t have any batteries.

Thursday 20 Feb
Hurray! Adee’s Manager! What a huge relief. Mustn’t be late. I have a feeling though, now Paul’s gone for a week, there will be some arguments and tantrums. Adee can handle that but I like Paul’s calm approach to things. Will be interesting to see how the week goes. Mel brought champagne in after work- very nice. What’s Olly up to?
Wednesday 19 Feb
Started at 3 today - was my late night. We’re getting so busy at the moment. I’m doing loads of colouring. My first lady had highlights and a tint. Then a lad came in and had a bright pink mohican. He looked great.
Was weird doing the late night. I miss the others when they go. There was Paul – who left early – me, John, Vass, Olly, Sandra and the twins who are the loveliest girls you could ever meet.
It was a fitness night. There was a mud wrestler, body builder, fitness instructors etc. The body builder was HUGE. Some Clients had been in the pub before they came in and my first Client couldn’t stop giggling. It’s strange cutting someone’s hair when they are drunk. It was so loud in there and I had a Client who wanted to argue with everyone. I didn’t feel very well all night – bad throat and so tired working till midnight.
Everyone was teasing me saying I had to go home in a side car and motorbike cos there were no taxis left – would have been a laff but thankfully I got a taxi. Glad the night’s over cos it was mad – was like London Zoo at one point with the noise - it sounded like over excited chimpanzees.
Tuesday 18 Feb
Had 3 more Clients today. How come I’m doing 3 more than everyone else? Am loving it though. Very knackered but loving it. Am losing my voice though. We need some music to give our voices a rest. Was fun again and as usual the day went very quick.
Had a jockey and a psychic in. She gave us all a bracelet with a message. Mine said “Believe in yourself” – True?!
Vass smelt the Colour Room out. Oh my God get that fresh air spray!
My favourite Client today was the lad who lost about 12 stone in weight. Great story and I hope he brings his book out. Got chased by photographers when we came out of The Salon. They followed us into Sainsburys!
Monday 17 Feb
Every single Client I did today had really long hair which is great. Did some wicked haircuts and a mad long hair up. Oh yeah, dyed a man’s hair from blonde to dark brown. Cut a mad style in it with a short fringe. I gave him a Del Boy drink with a lemon and a straw. He thought it was funny.
Olly the little devil squirted loads of water up my skirt with my wee wee boy – the baby that squirts water out of its winkie. Tis very funny – like a water pistol but it absolutely soaks ya!
Great day again – only bad point is I’ve got to talk in front of everyone tomorrow about why I would make a good manager! Bloody ‘ell!
Sunday 16 Feb
Great day today. Went so quick. I got the award today for the Best Employee of the Week. Me picture looks like butter wouldn’t melt in my mouth – little do they know – had ha!
Sent all the colours in the Colour Room flying – they went down like a set of dominoes and I had to put them all back again in order – was a nightmare!
Paul told us he’s off next week on holiday and there is a public vote for a Manager. I can’t believe it – me, Ricardo, Adee and Suzanne have been nominated. Please, please don’t vote for me. It will be like the Benny Hill Show and I’m not that good at telling people what to do! Ahhh! The heading will be ‘Carry on Salon’ – oh God! Am very nervous now.

Wednesday 12 Feb
Was weird today with just me, Mel, Paul, Vass, Sandra, Sabrina and Suzanne. I really missed the others. Was definitely a lot quieter. Thanks to the lady who brought me chocolates and also to the lady who brought me the champagne. Very nice!
Starting the late night filming tonight – Valentine’s singles night. There are loads of chocolates and wine but we had to go home. It’s my late night next week. Bet we don’t get drinks and chocolates! Will be interesting to see how the others got on.
Thanks again for your support especially Charlotte who set my website up and Liz who wrote about the good old Sunday School days – ha ha! Remember that man pulling the bag of sick out of the bin!!!
Tuesday 11 Feb
AH HA HA HA HA HA! So funny. Had 2 men in today taking us through group training exercises to make us all bond and get on well as a team. We all had to dress as sheep with little sheep hats on whilst Adee was the shepherd wearing a long wig and matching outfit. He had to blow on different instruments to get us round the assault course – we couldn’t see cos we were blindfolded. What ever we looked like I’ll never know but did a txt off my brother saying “d*** ed” Baah!
We then had to lower a long stick with our thumbs and our team won. We dressed Vass up as our ideal boss. He looked soooo funny with paper glasses on, lipstick, banana sticking out of his trousers – that was a joke meaning a hard worker! I looked like Deidre Barlow in that black curly wig – ahhh! Still it was a laff. It was like being back at play school. Adee didn’t want to do it at first but he enjoyed it the most – ha ha. Best day yet – good atmosphere. Everyone has bonded very well and gets on great. So far so good.
Oh yeah did you all see the cute baby – I cut his hair!

Corina’s got the award this week for best employee. Cos she looked miserable on the photo someone drew a big smiley mouth on her with red pen. I love teasing her – she’s great!
Nearly fell in the bin today and made a right mess of sweeping the carpet with that sweeping thing! It spits out more than it takes in. Not much happened but still a good day!
