02 Mar 2003 - Sandra's Diary
Monday 24 Feb

Day started off OK, poor Sonja was having panic attacks. Felt so sorry for her.

Sunday 23 Feb

Adee's first day as Manager. Team meeting was good, very motivated and enthusiastic. We both made and effort and surprisingly, got on really well. Was a good day.

Thursday 20 Feb

Paul's last day today. Announced in team meeting that Adee is to be manager - eeek! Oh well, good luck to him is what I say...

Had a meeting with Paul as he wanted to know how I felt and basically told me not to worry. I said I'd do my job and support Adee as manager. He agreed and would chat to Adee too.

Had a run-in with Olly as well, what is it with people today? Part and parcel of being a receptionist. Human punch bag for everyone to lash out on.

Paul also mentioned about us getting our contracts renewed and he would make a decision about who does and who doesn't. That's horrible to think about. We all get on so well and I would hate it if any of us had to leave.

Wednesday 19 Feb

Started at midday today as working till midnight. Not feeling myself today. Having an off day but was an ok day.

The late night wasn’t as hectic as last week thank God. Had the 2 ladies in who are doing a ‘Make Love not War Sexathon’ for the Daily Sport! Vass was trying to be a candidate – they need 1,000 men!

Had 3 girls from Arsenal ladies’ footie team who were a good laugh. They were p***** too! Had a body builder in today too. He was huge. How do they get that big? His bum stuck out so much you could have balanced a glass on it! Was relieved when the night was done. Looking forward to bed.

Tuesday 18 Feb

Had my hair slicked back in a ponytail today and Paul said I looked like a Mexican woman and was calling me Maria.

All the candidates for the Manager had to give a little speech on why they should be Manager for it to go to public vote. It’s between Sonja, Ricardo, Suzanne and Adee. It will be entertaining whoever gets it.

Monday 17 Feb

Ricardo was funny today. He was on a caffeine rush and was feeling all queasy. He’s so dramatic he’s funny! Had Jerry Lee Lewis’s sister in today. Very interesting woman. Been married 8 times! 8 times, goodness gracious great balls of fire!

Bit of flirting going on between Mel and Olly…hmmm could be interesting. You can tell there’s something going on. Having drinks with Mel tonight – will try and find out!

Sunday 16 Feb

Had team meeting this morning. Paul’s going on holiday and we had to nominate a Manager for next week. We have to give two suitable candidates each. My choice was Suzanne as I don’t get on too well with Adee at the moment. It did make me wonder if he becomes manager how it will affect me. At the end of day I will do my job as normal. That way no one can complain.

Thursday 13 Feb

Staff meeting was us running into the Staff Room where we were given a Valentine’s box. Inside was champagne, chocolates and cards – yippee! Love is in the air… The Salon was filled with romance today - scattered rose petals, chocolate hearts and champagne.

A really cute couple came in for a haircut and massage. Jason was really nervous today – he was going to propose to Laura. It was so romantic and sweet. Gotta hand it to him doing it on television. He was shaking so much.

Everyone was in good spirits. Tiredness was starting to kick in and am looking forward to the weekend.

Have finally got a date for Valentine’s Day and can’t wait. I’m sure it will be very interesting.

Wednesday 12 Feb

Felt really quiet this morning as half the stylists weren’t due in till later. Have a singles night tonight which should be interesting! Brandon Block and Alex P arrived to have their haircuts this afternoon. Didn’t know what to expect from them but were not disappointed. Big laughs to go with big personalities. Think they enjoyed hugging us girls!! Cut off Alex’s hair – looking good.

Worked late for the singles night. Was a great atmosphere though tension did build up between Ricardo and Adee at the end. Lots of cheeky chappies, bums and willies. Flirting, love hearts and champagne in the Jacuzzi. Say no more! We all worked well and hard though. Glad when home time came. 15-hour non-stop is a killer. But I got a date though!

Tuesday 11 Feb

Morning - Had a fairly easy morning as we have our team bonding (or bondage – depends what they want us doing!) today. We’re all a bit sceptical as we’re not sure what to expect. Are we going to hug each other and get emotional? Lie on a couch and talk about our past? Play games? Who knows!!!

Evening - Well all I can say now is I had a great afternoon. Was all about team playing and being a good team player. Learning to trust your colleagues, listen, understand, communicate etc. Played some good games which were exercises to test our skills, if that’s what dressing up as a sheep does! Very interesting though. Helped us learn a bit more about each other. Got a bit attached to the dressing up gear - didn’t want to give it back. But we had a good laugh!

Monday 10 Feb

4 days till Valentine’s… Suzanne still not well so had the twins in for the afternoon. Did loads of bookings for next week and spoke to some very excited people. Was told that we had two plants in today (as in people, not the green type!). They work for a team motivating company and they’re coming in to do a workshop tomorrow. Could be very interesting. Was a good day over all!

Sunday 9 Feb

New start to another week. Suzanne isn’t well so Paul and I altered the booking sheets after the meeting. Sorted it out – job done! Hope Suzanne’s ok – maybe she’s found sanity within the green fields of Ireland and her body’s gone into shock!

Met a lovely couple – Louise and Sean. Louise had cooked us cookies, bangers and mash and all sorts - was lovely. Sean’s waiting to be called to fight in the war. He’s an RAF pilot! Yes we did manage to get invites to the next RAF ball too! They were lovely. Had a pretty good day – went quick.

Thursday 6 Feb

All feeling a bit shattered this morning. Had a pretty entertaining week. At the team meeting, Paul was pretty impressed by our week - good!

Had disruptions with Olly and Suzanne. Olly was doing the lunch lists instead of helping Suzanne and she wasn't happy. She thought he was doing my lunch when he WASN'T and went mad. She had a point but it wasn't the case, although he should have been in the spa area with her.

They resolved their differences after exchanging a few words (rude ones too!). It's all sorted now and all happy families again!

Sabrina keeps taking the mick cause I keep answering the phone 'hello Head Office' and she's dying for the day that it isn't them. She's been in a pee-taking mood all week - mad woman!

Wednesday 5 Feb

What an eye opener of a day! First thing this morning Carina was greeted by a stripper for her birthday. It was so funny but I felt so sorry for her cause she was so embarassed. Plus, when he got his ding dong out, it was purple! He was choking it to death! I think Ricardo enjoyed it more though.

Then just as we got started to get over that, the bleedin Dream Boys walked in. What's going on? Is it two for the price of one or something? They were very big boys, they towered over me completely. Think the guys in The Salon are feeling a bit left out!

The day was great though. Finished off with champagne and cake before whisking the young Carina off to a bar to celebrate.

Tuesday 4 Feb

Carina’s birthday tomorrow - wonder what we’re doing. Ricardo’s back – hoorah! Feel ready for a hard day’s work.

Spent most of the day on the phone making appointments. Spoke to some great people. Had some interesting ones in too! Had Tony Vincent from “We Will Rock You” - nice teeth.

Had a good laugh with the others cleaning today. Didn’t realise you could make it fun! How sad am I?

Monday 2 Feb

My head…ouch. All feeling worse for wear again today but it was worth it.

Desmond Murray was in as a guest hairdresser. He is so funny and had a laugh on him that was so contagious.

Paul took the mickey out of me all day because I was chatting to a guy most of the night. Dur, I’m single, it’s allowed. It was funny at first but then started to wear a bit thin.

As usual had fab Clients but, like most people today, struggled just a little bit! Looking forward to getting home.

Sunday 1 Feb

Oh my God it’s February already. Have had a brilliant but mad weekend but the excitement around tonight’s Hair Show is keeping me going. The Salon wasn’t as busy due to prepping, apart from a hen party! They looked like they enjoyed themselves.

Ricardo is off sick today so he’s not coming tonight. Shame, he would have made it really fun. There was a really good buzz in The Salon whilst getting the models ready.

Arrived at The Grosvenor around 7:30. Really needed a drink. Everyone looked great. Had a few pictures taken and made our way to dinner.

The first part of the collection they showed was all the female models. We made so much noise. I felt so proud and was quite choked. Dinner was great and got a bit tipsy.

Said hello to a few people I knew in the industry which was good and had loads of positive feedback. Great cos I need a job after this!

2nd part of the collection was men and that was brilliant. After dinner we got interviewed and Paul thought it would be funny to tip me upside down and bit my bum really hard! Ouch! As for the rest of the evening…well that remains left unsaid. Brilliant night though!

Thursday 30 Jan

Ricardo turned up for work dressed as a Junior. Good on him! Had Michael Barrymore in too for a pedicure and hair cut. Nice man. Found Ricardo in the Jacuzzi in his lunch break! He does make me laugh.

Wednesday 29 Jan

Happy Birthday to my lovely nephew Mario!

Had a great morning. A lovely young man came in and had brought us chocolates. Then he gave me his phone number…result!

Had the models come in for the hair show. They looked fabulous. The clothes looked amazing, considering we’ve only had over a week to do it!

Paul announced the web poll about whether Ricardo should be a Junior for a day! Didn’t really go down too well. Ooops! Shall say no more.

Tuesday 28 Jan

Had a bit of a mare this morning trying to organise clients as we had a beauty client running late. No-one's fault, these things happen and you have to do your best to accommodate them. All was well in the end anyway.

Ashley Bond turned up for an all-over tan. Adee was very pleased to see her and very jealous of Sabrina who was doing her tan! She was so petite and had a gorgeous figure, but my God, those breasts made me feel flat chested! They're so big - huge! In the words of Shakira they were not small and humble, but definitely mountains. I couldn't believe my eyes. She's so tiny, how does she carry them? Anyway, she was lovely and it made Adee and Paul's day!

Had great clients in as usual and the twins were around doing massage. They are so sweet, really lovely girls.

Had a wacky client in, sporting a very mad outfit and bearing gifts. Such a lovely guy, so kind and generous. Bit of a fan of mine too - bless him!

Monday 27 Jan

Had a little row with Ricardo that lasted all of 5 mins. Moaned about the fact he had 1 client more than everyone else! I jokingly said it would compensate for all the cleaning he doesn’t do and got a mouth full of nasty abuse in return. I won’t tolerate being spoken to like that by anyone. I don’t care who they are, especially when it’s not deserved! All forgotten about after 5 mins though and we held hands to show our love for each other – ahh.

Sabrina not feeling so well. Feel really sorry for her.

Started the morning with champagne which was kindly bought in by a Client. Could get quite used to this! Other Clients brought us chocolates and shortbread. Excellent, I love my job!
