Thursday 17 April
I got home at 4.00am, so today, the last day, I feel a bit hungover. I would like to say thank you to everyone for your support and kind messages.
Wednesday 16 April
This morning Sonja came around to my hotel so we could get ready for going to work together in fancy dress. Sonja's taxi driver thought she was a prostitute as she was wearing a PVC catsuit and heavy make-up, It didn't help that someone had waved her off and that I was waiting outside the hotel saying 'come on darling'.
I got ready with Sonja and we got a cab to Balham. Jonathan was waiting outside the hotel in his suit and said his fancy dress was arriving at work. I knew he was full of s**t and doubted the whole thing way before that.
Can you really imagine Adee dressing as an animal? It was so embarrassing having to go through my hotel's reception looking like Mickey Mouse and Sonja as a cat.
We were very suspicious especially as we were the only ones arriving and the only ones to go in The Salon. We had a real laugh and became quite hysterical, we chased each other around The Salon. We also jumped on chairs and acted mental. Everyone else arrived about half an hour later and confirmed what I had thought.
Sonja kept her costume on all day even though it was PVC. I had to take off mine to go shopping for lunches. The rest of the day was enjoyable and I went out after work.
Tuesday 15 April
Today was the morning after the night before and I think everyone felt slightly rough. I helped Sabrina with a massage and painted nails on Suzanne's pedicure. Suzanne's Client was really nice and is friends with a man called Richard who I met through Ricardo.
In the afternoon I helped Sabrina with a Salon tan. John really fancied our Client who works as a club promoter. He also does modelling and is sometimes on the Graham Norton show. As he was leaving he gave me his tiger g-string which made a growling noise when touched. I'm not exactly sure why he gave it to me but it was sweet of him anyway.
I massaged Sabrina's last Client who worked as a Dreamboy. As he was about to leave The Salon he took his top off and explained to Jonathan the dance moves. Jonathan took his top off, nothing I haven't seen before!
Monday 14 April
Today was a great day – my model morning. Today Sabrina taught me massage. The week before Paul asked me who I would like as a model so of course I said David Beckham. My massage model was a gorgeous David Beckham look-alike. Vass thought he actually was David and told Sabrina who became really nervous. My model’s name was Paul (PJ) and he was a really nice guy. Not at all up himself.
My training went well and I felt like Sabrina taught me a lot. I learnt some new movements and my massage seemed to flow a lot more.
After my training Paul (David) stayed in the Spa for a while. When I went shopping I asked a lady called Selena, who organises everyone, if she could take a photo of Paul on his way out. While I was shopping for lunches I met Paul in the street and he told me Selena had taken a photo and he said thank you for the massage.
A friend of Suzanne’s arrived unexpectedly for a manicure. Later on I had a great surprise. One of my best friends, Alexandra from Norway, arrived. It was such a surprise and I think Vass quite fancied her. She had a cut and colour and it was really great to see her. I haven’t seen her since January and really miss her when we don’t meet often. When Alexandra left we arranged to meet later.
Tonight after work we had a meeting with our Outside people (organisation to help and advise on what to do when we leave). After this we had Beauty Awards to go to.
Sunday 13 April
The start of our last week. It feels really strange as I only just feel like I’ve begun. Today was good. Assisted lots of treatments and the Spa was busy. A lady flashed in the Spa – I don’t think Suzanne was too impressed. Apparently Paul gave her permission to flash. I talked a lot about the weekend with John and everyone.
Thursday 10 April
Today we celebrated Suzanne’s birthday which is on Friday. She had a surprise visit from Frankie Dettori who brought her a big bunch of flowers. There was also a cake in the shape of a jockey’s hat and champagne. Suzanne was really pleased as she loves racing. Frankie had his hair bleached for charity.
Sabrina had an elderly male Client who was totally covered in piercings and tattoos. I don’t know how he washed his face. It’s hard to believe he used to work in a bank. Tonight we all went out to celebrate Suzanne’s birthday.
Wednesday 9 April
Today it was good to see Sonja back at work. She was back to her normal self. Everyone was tired because of the meal last night.
The Chuckle Brothers came to The Salon for haircuts. I used to like then when I was little. I did a few mini manicures and met nice Clients.
Tuesday 8 April
Today the Spa was quite busy and I did a few manicures from hairdressing stations. One lady I manicured was a wrestler and telling me about a documentary which she will appear in. Another lady I manicured arrived with her friend in dog masks. She worked with dogs and lives in Bristol which is where my sister studies. Tonight we all went out for a meal which was really nice.
Monday 7 April
Today I felt slightly better so I went into work. I had a model for nail extensions. My model Gemma was friendly and happy with the results. I felt dizzy a couple of times but apart from that I did feel a bit better. Sabrina felt sick during the end of the day so I did a pedicure for her.
Sunday 6 April
Today I couldn’t go to work as I have gastroenteritis.
Thursday 3 April
Boy George came into The Salon today. He is larger than life. Vass and I had a conversation about what it was like to be gay. Like so many people he thought it was a choice rather than something you are born to be.
Boy George invited us all to his show and Robyn came along. We went onto a couple of bars and clubs and had a really good time, especially knowing I could have a lie-in in the morning.
Wednesday 2 April
My birthday! Had a really good birthday, Stayed last night with Sonja and arrived at work after a taxi journey. We all looked at the appointment book and Mel said that Julie Goodyear was booked in. She has always been an icon of mine so I was excited about seeing her. During the morning a Client introduced herself to me as my cousin’s partner. I hadn’t met her before so it was nice to meet her.
Just after 1 Julie Goodyear came into The Salon pushing a trolley on which was my birthday cake with my photo on it and 22 candles, some champagne, a heart shaped box of chocolates and an Easter bunny. She sang Happy Birthday to me. She spent all the afternoon in The Salon and chatted to me and the rest of the staff while she had a manicure and her hair blow-dried. She certainly lived up to all my expectations. She was so friendly and giving and had a strong presence.
About an hour after Julie arrived I had another surprise. My sister Robyn arrived to have a colour with Mel and a cut with Adee. I hadn’t seen her since Christmas. I wanted Mel to make Robyn look blonder but she said her hair would fall out. Robyn’s hair was dyed dark with blonde slices underneath.
Robyn waited in The Spa until I finished work and we gossiped. We then went for a drink with Sonja.
Tuesday 1 April
Me and Sonja went out the night before and planned she would come in in a sling. I was going to wear a head bandage but couldn’t find a bandage big enough. Everyone was so gullible, except Paul guessed. Lots of fun, nice Clients. Thank you for the mail.
Monday 31 March
This morning was dramatic, Ricardo read out a letter, grabbed his stuff and left for good. It was a bit of a shock as the public had just voted him in but I don’t think anyone was really that surprised.
I had my training morning today for waxing. My model was really friendly and called Beth. We were supposed to do a leg wax but her legs were not hairy enough so we did a bikini line wax. Suzanne demonstrated and I think it went well. Also I did a manicure with a French manicure finish.
Sunday 30 March
Mother’s Day today. Sonja, Jonathan and Mel’s family came in. It was funny because Mel met Jonathan’s parents for the first time. There was champagne and chocolates.
Thursday 27 March
This morning we had a long meeting with Salon expert who had observed our work. I would normally have commented on their remarks but I had a splitting headache. Regarding their comments I don’t think they realised my position at The Salon. They said I was quiet but the Beauty area is supposed to be relaxing and tranquil. I can’t go around pulling moonies and shouting. Me and Sonja are always having a laugh but it’s never shown.
We found out the results of the vote today and Ricardo is staying.
Wednesday 26 March
Today I felt slightly better, though public transport was a complete nightmare. I hope to find accommodation closer to work.
The Spa wasn’t working today. Sonja and I talked about what she plans to do when she leaves. We also had a makeup artist in today. He was called Terry and had three appointments. I looked in during two of his Clients and really liked the looks he created.
Tuesday 25 March
There were two ladies in The Salon today to carry out appraisals. The Spa was quite busy and I had lots to do. We had a staff vote about Ricardo’s future – 7 out of 10 voted in his favour. On my way home I bought a pile of magazines and Ricardo featured in two of them. They showed him in drag wearing what he wore on last Wednesday’s late night show.
Monday 24 March
Today I had a training morning and did a pedicure. It was my model’s birthday. She was a medical student and very friendly. Still lots of talk about Ricardo. Also lots of gossip about Mel and Jonathan. I think they make a nice couple. Got home early tonight by 9. I felt ill yesterday and today – there is a bug going round The Salon.
Sunday 23 March
Got up at 6am this morning. Had to get a taxi at 7:15 for the first part of my journey, as the train doesn’t go early enough on Sundays. Then continued journey on the Underground. As on all Sundays we had a staff meeting in the morning. Paul mentioned that I shouldn’t have laughed during the incident…
Ricardo came back this afternoon but his future is to be decided by the public.
I stayed after work with Suzanne for training on non-surgical face-lifts. My mum says she wants this treatment.
Had a taxi home after work at 9:15 but the driver wasn’t familiar with the area and I wasn’t home until gone 11. So today was a very long day.
