Before Shipwrecked

What attracted you to spend five months on a desert island?

I'm a beach obsessive and enjoy a challenge. I had never spent more than a couple of months away from my family before and I saw my gap year as an opportunity to do so. I loved the idea of setting up a community from scratch.

What were you doing before you arrived on the Island?

I was a student studying 'A' levels and getting my results. Then I was travelling up and down the south coast of France; surfing and soaking up the rays with a big clan of people.

What did your friends and family think of you doing it?

My family was extremely proud and most of my friends thought it was the sort of crazy thing I'd sign up for.

What do you think you will achieve by doing it?

Meeting a wide range of interesting people, learning new skills and challenging myself. And hopefully a tan that will set me up for life!

What's your longest period away from home prior to Shipwrecked?

I've lived in different countries and never really had a particular place to call home but I’ve never really spent more than two weeks away from my family.

What did you think about having to spend so long away from home with complete strangers?

I was excited about it. I generally get on well with a wide range of people - so I knew I'd be able to find friends among the crazy islanders.

What's your worst habit?

I think I've discovered that my worst habit is probably my chilled-outness! I just lie back and let things wash over me, which can annoy people.

What's your best feature?

Physically - my eyes, supposedly. Mentally - I'm very open and friendly.
