Before Shipwrecked
What attracted you to spend five months on a desert island?
A million and one things! The challenge of living without electricity and running water, going back to basics… Living the dream on a paradise island… Meeting lots of fine young specimens to play lots of fun games with and to mess about with ALL day long… Getting away from the mundane and grey winter in London… Having the experience of a lifetime and doing it for free and in the sun!! woo hoo!!!
What were you doing before you arrived on the Island?
I was working (or dossing really - don't tell the boss!) in Kingston, but mainly day dreaming about travelling and going out with the girls to eat and be merry, and talk: a lot.
What did your friends and family think of you doing it?
They were all ridiculously jealous but also very proud and very happy for me. They had to start preparing early on for the Jane drought; they knew they'd miss me loads! They also had hundreds of questions which I obviously couldn't answer...
What do you think you will achieve by doing it?
I think I'll achieve lifelong memories and an unforgettable experience which I will definitely tell my grandchildren about (or other peoples if I don't have any!) It's going to be interesting to learn how to survive being Shipwrecked and I also hope to be able to learn things from all the different people out there and that I'll be able to impart some of my (vast!) knowledge to them… ha ha, if only!
What's your longest period away from home prior to Shipwrecked?
One year in Java, teaching English (badly) to the little ones...
What did you think about having to spend so long away from home with complete strangers?
I'm looking forward to meeting and getting to know new people, and appreciate that it's going to be the perfect environment for making close bonds and friendships with them. I'm very, very excited about being in the sun, near the sea and away from all work and stress for some time... Can't wait!
What's your worst habit?
Bad concentration and high energy levels mean that I lose interest really quickly and can zone out when people talk to me about topics that don't interest me. That's bad. My worst habit though is scrunching up my face into a sort of scowl when I don't get what people are talking about or when I disagree… its not pretty! It's scary!!
What's your best feature?
I think my best feature is my positivity. I always look on the bright side of life and am always happy (obviously unless I'm sad... not often) and I hope that makes me easy to be around, or at least a little fun! Physically my hands because I give a great massage…
