Before Shipwrecked

What attracted you to spend five months on a desert island?

Firstly the challenge because, to be honest, it really was nothing like I've ever done before... Secondly, the opportunity to meet people that in everyday life I'd never have the chance to meet.

What were you doing before you arrived on the Island?

I was attending Newcastle University and had just come back from a summer working in the South of France as a private cook.

What did your friends and family think of you doing it?

My friends were particularly excited about the whole experience. My family members were all supportive which I believe to be really important before I decided to accept the challenge or not. I think both my friends and family questioned by capabilities for island life but I hope to prove them wrong...

What do you think you will achieve by doing it?

I hope to learn a lot about myself by being in an environment that is totally foreign to me. Also to make new friends and generally get involved in Island life.

What's your longest period away from home prior to Shipwrecked?

6 months on a ski season in my gap year.

What did you think about having to spend so long away from home with complete strangers?

I think it's all rather exciting! And of course a bit nerve racking because you don't know what the people are going to be like; whether they are absolute nutters or a bunch of utterly useless, boring people.

What's your worst habit?

Thinking I'm always right, and never being single!

What's your best feature?

Not being afraid to speak my mind, and my variety of bikinis! Also a general enthusiasm to get the most out of life - I want to have a successful career and I'm pretty determined to make sure I get it.
