What’s the best thing about being home?
The best thing about being home is the way you can see your family and friends whenever you want, you can have whatever food you want and feel clean! Plus, you don’t get bitten by mosquitoes in England!
What do you miss most about island life?
I think the thing I miss most about island life is the beautiful surroundings we were embraced in! You only had to look out to sea to remember how lucky we were to be there. At night you could see so many stars because the nights were so clear! It was almost a certainty to see a shooting star!
What was your most memorable moment?
I had a number of memorable moments but I think one that will stick with me will be watching the sunrise on the reef. It was the last morning we would have on the third island and Nick, Char and I all went up to watch it. It was such a great sight. Also, there were nights where we slept out on the beach and it was very peaceful!
Worst part of the Shipwrecked experience?
Worst part of the Shipwrecked experience? I think the worst part for me was the hard weeks on the third island. We had very little food, had to build a shelter, had to keep hunting for protein and keep our spirits high too!
Who did you get on best with?
I got on with Char and Nick very well. I think the first few weeks on the third island brought us close and everything that happened after that just brought us closer. I got on with all the people on the third island, I was very lucky to be landed on that island with such a great bunch!
Anyone you won’t miss?
I don’t think there is anyone I won’t miss. I won’t miss the mosquitoes that’s for sure!
Who did you fancy?
All the girls on the third island were very pretty girls. I didn’t fancy anyone however. Once you’ve been such a close team you start to think of the girls as your sisters, so no, I didn’t fancy anyone.
Would you do it all again?
I think I would do it all again. It was such a beautiful place I don’t know how you could say no, although I think I would want to do it for a shorter amount of time! I had such a different experience where I was compared to the others on the normal islands, think I would like to have tried the normal shipwrecked for some time too!
Would you recommend it to anyone else?
I would recommend this to someone who believes in having an open mind about the world. I don’t think it would suit anyone who cannot adapt to their surroundings!
How has the experience changed you?
I don’t think the experience has changed me as a person but I do believe it has taught me a few values in life. I really have got a new found respect for things that I have back home.
Was being “shipwrecked” what you had expected?
I definitely did not think that I would be pushed to such limits on shipwrecked. I didn’t think I would ever be so dirty, so hungry and so tired in all my life! It was more testing than I thought shipwrecked would be!
What does the future hold for you now?
I think I’m just going to see what turns up! But for now I’m back to the yard and mucking out the horses!
