Battle of the Islands
Six castaways – who have never met before - are shipwrecked onto an island, deep in the heart of the South Pacific. 21 year old Liverpudlian Danny and 18 year old Faith from Oxford meet first; they then meet by 24 year old Barrie, Newcastle lass Katie, riding instructor James and 18 year old A level student Lara. The six castaways spend their first day building a temporary shelter which they are eager to finish before nightfall.
The following morning, despite a sleepless night due to a torrential downpour, most of the group are in high spirits, except that is for 19 year old Katie who is homesick already and wondering whether she is really cut out for life on a desert island.
After two days the group are surprised when another six castaways arrive on the island increasing their number to 12. First off the boat is 18 year old Tom followed quickly by 18 year old Carly from Cheshire, 19 year old Essex boy Jack, 23 year old self-confessed country bumpkin Char, 26 year old fitness instructor Marvyn and 20 year old Scouser Susan.
More people arriving only add to homesick Katie's struggle with island life and after only 3 days she leaves the island and Shipwrecked for good. The following day Katie is replaced by 26 year old Welsh girl Keris.
At the first Shipwrecked beach party the 12 castaways split themselves into two groups of 6 and then choose who would be Tigers and who would be Sharks. In a devastating twist both groups of 6 find out that before they can officially adopt their tribal identities, they have to select one person from each group to send home. Refusing to chose, both groups let fate decide; picking the short straws was Char and James who, after a tearful goodbye, left the island. They and two tribes they've left behind... believe Char and James are now heading home to the UK.

James and Char head out into the lagoon devastated by the day's events. They believe they are going home, but as the boat veers away from the mainland in the direction of another island, they both start to suspect they may not be going home after all.
Although shocked by the harshness of their new island home both Char and James are relieved their Shipwrecked journey has not come to end. They soon stumble across survival expert Nick Weston and find out their island has no luxuries - no long drop; no loo roll and if they want protein in their diet, then they must hunt and kill the island's wildlife.
Char, James and Nick spend their first week on the secret third island getting to grips with the harshness of their new home. Although survival expert Nick is used to braving such elements and Char takes to it easy enough, James struggles to cope with most of the survival aspects.
After some brief speculation as to why they are there, James suggests like the Tigers and Sharks they too should have a name for their tribe.
...and decide to name themselves The Hawks.
