Week 16 - Lianne's Blog
Kim's beach party turned out to be an interesting if not predictable one. The full-blown Sharks - Naomi, Terri and Soph interrogated me and Lucy about supposedly spreading vicious rumours about their team mates. I was surprised about Soph's bitchy passions but realised that both her and Terri have something to prove since abandoning their Tiger loyalties in the face of the Sharks.
The Tigers also lost Kim at that beach party which ultimately did not surprise me as deep down we all knew that she did not fit in well and could never be a true Tiger. Losing Kim did not affect me too badly but it really got to both Benny and Jane. I think Jane was cut up simply because she had got on well with her, whereas for Benny it was simply his competitive, numbers focused mind: he does not like to lose!
Then Jonno turned up, the gay genius from Edinburgh Uni. He brought along 'Wilfred' as his luxury item, who caused a bit of uncertainty amongst the Tigers but as time passed we all learned to love that piece of wet lettuce! The idea of bringing a piece of lettuce in the jar all the way to the Pacific would seem ridiculous if it were not for the eccentricity of its owner! Jonno bewildered me with his intellect and perception - he figured out that Benny was an open and caring person just from the way he said "hello". To welcome Jonno (and Wilfred) we had a delicious meal on a table dug into the sand on south beach. Unfortunately, with the raft race in the same week we could not devote 100 percent of our time to entertaining Jonno as our new arrival in the usual Tiger style.
For Jonno's last night we had MacBen's curry night in Maraccas and then turned ourselves into gangsters for a break-dancing competition - who needs music when you can make your own! In the morning we said goodbye to Jonno and Wilfred and wished them luck with the dreaded Sharks. He said he would play some dirty tactics on them because he knew he would be a Tiger. I am not sure whether to get my hopes up but I think he fitted in really well here and he would diversify our group even more. After his departure we had an afternoon of rest and relaxation, Benny and I slept in the BLB tower from lunch until dinner - we were all exhausted!
Francesca and I are planning on swimming to the Pontoon with a newfound friend to Wilfred - Caroline The Coconut! I think Jonno will appreciate the wacky gesture. I hope so much that he picks the Tigers at the beach party this week... argh!
