Week 15 - Fiona's Blog
Francesca picked Tigers - woooohooo! When I first met Francesca I was not too sure about her but I have grown to love her and think she is hilarious and I am so glad that she picked us! After she made her decision the Sharks swarmed all around her. They think she may be swayed over there but I don't think that she will. In true Tiger style we planned an initiation for Francesca; hers turned out to be probably the weirdest one we had ever done. We all wore white and stood in an arrow shape singing a bizarre song and doing a dance while moving towards her. Then the boys picked her up and spun her around in the air - finally we gave her ten bumps to signify the ten Tigers that we now have on the island. So at least we have hit double figures in Tiger camp now.
We got new arrival Kim in the second half of the week; she is quite sporty and active so I think she could fit into this island quite well. We did loads of fun stuff with her, including an obstacle course and a fashion show - the amount of times the boys dress up as women on this island is crazy. And they always seem to wear my underwear when they do... not a nice thought!
Kim witnessed probably the most emotional day ever on Tigers this week when we received our letters from home; as soon as I saw the rolled up paper in our chest a tear came into my eye! Francesca did an amazing job of reading out the letters; I think I cried at everyone of them! We decided that we wanted to read out each other's as it meant so much more coming from someone who had been through the same experience and someone who is now an amazingly close friend. Lianne tried to read Lucy's but got too emotional so I had to read both of theirs! I tried to hold in the tears as I wanted to make sure they could hear what I was saying. It was strange listening to other people's letters as we feel as though we know each other's friends and families even though we have never met them. I can't wait to meet 'Our Joe' - Benny's twin. Can you actually believe there are two of them? I had my letter read out last by Lucy. It doesn't take much for me to cry on a normal day so you can imagine what I was like.
Getting my letter made me feel quite down and homesick for the rest of the day, but it has now given me that extra push to make the most of this experience and to have the most fantastic time that I can. It's only a few weeks now until I will be back to normal life in England wishing that I was back here with everyone. So, all in all it has been a bit of a mega week: highs, lows and men dressed as women! Just another normal week on Tiger Island then...
