Hi there.

As I write from the plane which is taking me home, I can say that I expected losing the competition to be more demoralising than it was. Although it was disappointing, everybody recovered quickly. If anything, the absence of the expected despair in camp helped to put into perspective what an amazing time we have had regardless of winners and losers.

With the end of the competition came the realisation that we would be heading home, something that had seemed at times like an impossible dream. The boat ride to the mainland was so surreal, but spirits were really high and it occurred to me how sad it is that Lorenzo travelled it alone.

In no time I was cramming my face with the sweets and chocolate I had so sorely missed and waiting for the enormity of what we have achieved and experienced to sink in. My excitement at going home and rejoining civilisation is mammoth; but so is the value I place upon the memories created on Shark Island.

Go Team! (Even though we lost.)
