Cast Interviews | Ian Gallagher
"Yeah, good - long. It's 16 episodes this year not eight. So it's doubled up."
So you're working really hard?
"Yeah, some weeks. You get days if you're not in then you don't work. If you're not in the scene then you can just chill.
"It's not always hard, but can be long hours especially for the crew. Because they are in every day, seven days a week."
"Weird, but I've got used to it now. In this show it's like 'oh no, what?' when you come out of the Gallaghers' and there's a fence instead of all the estate houses.
"I kind of miss that so they can do them really scenic shots but it's still good and the guys upstairs know what they are doing."
Do you find it easier to get into character when you are on location filming?
"I don't think it's a case of that - I don't analyse that much. I mean this is the first thing I did. Research wise it's kind of a lot more natural not to be like 'I need to spend more time in the right environment'. It's the team that makes the acting more than the settings really.
Have you got a favourite shameless moment?
"Kev starts the car to drive off but it's been sawed so it splits in half as he drives off."
"Not from Ian no, all my favourite quotes are from Frank."
Any clues on the story lines coming up?
"Ian finds a love interest and that goes wrong. He starts a business with friends and that goes wrong and ends up robbing money off his mates and gets found out.
"So it's all tears and nothing really positive! All Shameless shenanigans..."
No shame in that. Thanks Gerard.
