Frank's father Neville turns up and asserts his authority over Frank, who has to pretend that he has a job rather than letting on that he actually spends his days popping pills and blowing his benefits in The Jockey.

When Karen gets a job in The Jockey, Veronica becomes jealous of her flirtatious nature towards Kevin. After head-butting her on numerous occasions, Veronica is banned from the pub.

Neville experiences what Frank assumes is a heart attack. After telling Neville exactly what he thinks of him, Frank is disappointed when he makes a full recovery from what was only a severe case of indigestion.
