National Book Tokens are welcomed by every book shop in the country.
Did you know that only 5% of all books published in the UK each year ever make it into a format that a blind or partially sighted person can read, such as Braille, Giant Print or Audio?
How would you feel if all of your friends were talking about the latest bestseller but you weren’t able to get hold of a copy to join in with them? The people on TV are saying it’s one of the best books ever written, but you can’t even get hold of a copy, let alone express your views on it…
Two million visually impaired people in the UK face this problem every day, not being able to take part or join in.
But thankfully, that’s not the case with Richard and Judy’s Best Read!
Thanks to an exciting initiative between the National Library for the Blind (NLB), Richard & Judy, and top publishers, blind people are now able to take part in the Best Read at the same time as their sighted friends.
