“We've been meeting 6.30-7.30pm on the first Thursday each month since 2002. We currently have about 20 members in total and usually about half make it to the monthly meet. We have a range of ages and nationalities but what all our members have in common is a passion for reading. We take it in turns to select books for the group and these are all freely supplied by the library. The group is open to anyone with a Lewisham library card and we welcome new members. We rarely agree across the board upon our verdict about each book, but always benefit from everybody's perspective feeding into a lively and informed discussion. There are currently 10 reading groups for adults across the Lewisham library network with 2 of the newest devoted to reading crime fiction.”
