About Poker Nations Cup 2008

Poker Nations Cup is Channel 4's and PartyPoker's innovative team poker tournament, in which top international players pursue not simply personal glory and reward but also the honour of playing for their country.

Each team consists of six players, five professionals and one online player. Over six heats, each player competes once to score points for their team. All six teams then compete in a 'tag' final where the Captains make tactical substitutions and call strategic Time Outs. The team that prevails wins the first prize of $100,000and the coveted Poker Nations Cup Trophy.

The GB team eager to reclaim the title following last years defeat by Sweden are captained by Roland De Wolfe. His team includes Ian 'The Razor' Frazer, Neil 'Bad Beat' Channing, Surinder Sunar and Joe 'The Elegance' Beevers.

The USA team is again captained by top poker professional Robert Williamson III. His team includes the 2006 World Series of Poker winner Jamie Gold, Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson and celebrity player Montel Williams.

The other teams are captained by Marcel Luske (Holland), Michael Keiner (Germany), Bo Sehlstedt (Sweden) and Padraig Parkinson (Ireland)

The Points

Each individual is awarded points that are then transferred into chips at the Grand Final:
1st place – 16 points
2nd place – 11 points
3rd place – 7 points
4th place – 4 points
5th place – 2 points
6th place – 1 point
