Team USA were desperate for a good result but Antonio Esfandiari lost a big pot early on to Holland's Jorryt Van Hoof and the USA were in danger of another early exit. Sweden's young star William Thorson was first to go out when his AQ didn't improve against Van Hoof's JJ. Then, the Dutchman claimed the scalp of Esfandiari leaving the USA marooned at the bottom of the points table. Team Great Britain's Joe Beevers was making steady progress when he found pocket aces which was enough to eliminate Denmark's Nicolai Vivet in 4th place. Then Beevers took care of the German captain Michael Keiner when his JJ held up against the German's AK. It looked like Great Britain were going to win their fourth heat of the tournament as Beevers began the heads-up with a massive advantage over Van Hoof. However, with the combination of some good cards and an outstanding bluff, Van Hoof came back to claim victory and secure a crucial 16 points for the Dutch side. Beevers' 11 points for second place still left the Great Britain team with an incredible 37 point lead going into the last heat.
