BETTING
In Texas Hold'Em, there are four rounds of betting.
In each round, players must make a betting decision. They can:
- Bet
- Put money into the pot.
- Call
- Match a bet placed by a player before them. Many people know this as 'seeing' another player.
- Raise
- Raise the size of the bet that's already been made, i.e. call
a bet and put an additional bet into the pot, forcing the
other players to wager more money in order to stay in the hand.
- Pass
- Drop out of the hand altogether. Many people know this as 'fold'.
- Check
- Decline to bet. But, you can only check if no-one has placed a bet before you.
(When you play online, these options will appear clearly in a menu box,
so that when the action comes around to you, you'll know exactly what choices you have.)
