An hour before the doors opened, 4000 people were already waiting to audition. With so many to get through, the judges trawled the queue and weeded out the wheat from the chaff. The first to make an impression was 24-year-old Nathan. After playing the comedian, he admitted he would rather be an actor than a model but the judges still liked him. 'I got about 8 numbers from fit birds today' he grinned cheekily.
Some people just couldn't take no for an answer, and those infamous Romanian twins Gabriella and Monica were back, this time with their stepfather. 'They move like cats. They are superb,' he enthused. The judges disagreed.
Farting, impressions, singing and dancing were just some of the tricks used to stand out. However, it's all about looks, and Gemma and Kim were reduced to jelly when they clapped eyes on Jack.
At the recalls, photos were taken and skin checked. Piercings were whipped out and facial hair shaved off. Nathan and Jack showed up late and Dylan and Kim read them the riot act. Nathan was hung over and Jacks alarm was broken. Dylan was livid.
What the judges didn't forsee was the matchmaking potential of the audition. Several contestants admitted to fancying each other and numbers were swapped. Eat your heart out Cilla! After the familiar crack of the rubber pants, the judges picked the finalists. Raimonda, Kimberely, Verity, Sam, David M, Louise, Angela, Samantha, Kelly, Theresa, David S, Andrew, Ryan, Jack & Nathan made the grade. Jack promised to buy a new alarm clock.
