Mad for it in Manchester
Over 3,000 hopefuls thronged the streets of Manchester hoping to be picked out as the face of 2002. Italian Stefano fancied his chances as the next best thing "My gran told me I'm a real Bobby Dazzler so I thought I'd give it a go."

With stiff competition ahead, a few of the boys (and girls!) decided that stripping off was the best way to attract attention. Smooth talking Chris believed he had something special, but was strangely reluctant to remove his shirt. After some gentle persuasion from Dylan he unbuttoned it to reveal...a hairy chest!

Putting on their best poses, the chosen ones smiled and pouted as the camera clicked - but just 20 were asked to stay. The group was put under the judge's microscopic glare as skin was scrutinized and every pore was peered at. If that wasn't scary enough, a selection of skimpy trunks and bikinis was unveiled for the contestants to try on. Frantic press-ups ensued in the boys changing room and nineteen year old Matthew decided to increase his changes by stuffing socks down his tight trunks! Just five people were picked to go on to London. Step forward Matthew, Kirsten, Ben, Monika and Nicky. Looks like the socks down the pants trick worked.

The Bumps And Beauties Of Belfast
An array of beauties queued up for hours on end at the Belfast audition. Anthony hoped that the bump on his head would set him apart from the judges, but Dylan remained unimpressed! Smooth talking Paul chatted his way into the judge's good books by complimenting Dylan on his magazine. His flattery (and his good looks of course!) won him a place the following day.

The afternoon line up proved to be disappointing with a distinct lack of talent to choose from. Salvation came in the form of Jay, Paul's twin brother. Pint sized Milene caught the judges eye and despite her small stature (5 ft 5) she made the grade. After putting the group through their paces on the catwalk the judges debated the merits of each contestant. Dylan was worried that Milene is too young at 16, while Kim voiced her concern about putting the twins through to the next round "The whole twins thing is really cheesey." After much debate Jay, Paul, Deborah, Jamie and Kelly Anne were told the good news - they were on their way to London. The twins made plans to hit the hottest nightspots upon arrival.
