Canadian Evangeline Lilly's irresistible combination of beauty, charm and talent is earning her a reputation as one of the most promising young actresses in Hollywood.
Like co-star Matthew Fox, Evangeline's good looks did not go unnoticed for long. She was 'discovered' by a scout for the Ford modelling agency on the streets of Kelowna, British Columbia, although she initially passed up an offer to sign with the agency.
When she moved to Vancouver to attend the University of British Columbia, however, she did sign with Ford to help pay for tuition. But after appearing in a few commercials, acting took a back seat as she decided to focus on studying.
On the advice of a friend, a couple of years later Evangeline gave acting another shot. A few minor roles followed before she landed a part in Kingdom Hospital – Stephen King's spooky hospital drama – and this led to her being cast as Kate in Lost.
She was born on 3 August 1979. She is fluent in French, and loves ice-skating, canoeing, snowboarding and rock climbing.
