We caught up with Matt Littler (Max) to find out how he feels about Max's death in part two of our interview.
Are you pleased with the leaving storyline that you were given?
Yeah I think it finishes Max's story off nicely. It would have been nice to see him have a happy ending in some sense, but when the writers were thinking about what to do, someone threw this ending in the mix and everyone just gasped! So I think they wanted it to have an emotional ending.

Would you have preferred a happy ending?
I'd have liked a happy ending but I suppose in some sense it is as he reaches the ultimate high point in his life. He marries Steph and has all his friends being around him so I suppose it is a happy ending in a way.

Would you have not liked to leave the door open for a return?
You know what, closing the door is going to make me work all the harder in the future so I’m happy about that.

Max finally seems to have found some happiness with Steph, only for him die on his wedding day. Do you think the fans will think about this?
I think there's going to be a big reaction. The way it's all been shot, its really well directed and acted and the fans are in for a ride that's pretty grim.

There has been a lot of talk about what will happen to Tom if Max is leaving HOLLYOAKS, can you give us any clues?

Your departure from the show has seen a lot of the old cast return for your final storyline, has that been fun?
Yeah it was good having Sarah (Dunn, who plays Mandy) and Stephanie (Waring, who plays Cindy) back. Darren (OB) came back too so that was great and a lot of fun.

Max eventually has ended up with Steph, a character who has been there all along. Were you surprised when you were told that Max and Steph would get together?
I was a bit surprised yeah but it wasn't too much of a shock. Sometimes you think 'no way' but I could see it with Max and Steph and I get on really well with Carley too so I was like 'yeah lets do it'.
