Jessica Hall, who plays call centre supervisor Sheila, first appeared on our screens at the end of July bossing around the likes of Zoe, Kris, Sarah and Zak. Now Jessica's settled in to life on set we thought it right to have a chinwag with her…

Can you describe your character to us?

Sheila's a conniving biatch! Not a sexy biatch - a nerdy biatch. She’s got a vulnerable side. You've got to feel sorry for her! When you get to know her a bit better you think, "Ah, bless her, she’s not got a clue".

Any teasers you can give viewers as to what happens to your character?

She finds a kindred spirit in another nerdy character.

Have you ever worked in a call centre?

When I was 16 I did two days trying to sell double glazing. I’m sure it was illegal! We just had big phone books that we would go through to make sales. It was awful! I must have done two calls and then I just carried on phoning the speaking clock over and over again, so it looked as though I was working. The second day I didn't make any genuine calls to anyone because I felt awful. I kept getting old ladies answering and I couldn't do it – awful!

Was that worst job you've ever had?

Without a doubt! I remember having my lunch and going outside and crying. Now, if a job was that bad I'd just walk away, but it was perhaps the first time I'd ever done a day's work and I thought, "Perhaps this is what real life is like!" On the second day I told them I had to leave because I was having an operation. I was having a mole removed (attractive!), but it wasn't an operation that necessitated me to quit the job!
