Meet The Freshers: Elliot James Langridge
Wednesday 23 September
In our 'Meet The Freshers' feature on Monday we introduced you to Beth Kingston who plays ditzy, posh student India. In the second part of 'Meet The Freshers' you can read all about Elliot James Langridge. Elliot plays the playboy history of art undergraduate Dave...
Your appearance this week isn't the first time Dave's been in Hollyoaks. Can you explain to readers when and why your character first appeared?
He came in for two episodes a few months back because he knows Charlotte from Manchester. He arrived as a bit character before being introduced in Hollyoaks: The Morning After the Night Before, the online anti-binge drinking campaign.
How did you find filming Hollyoaks: The Morning After the Night Before?
It was really good fun filming on location in Manchester. It involved what I think they call guerrilla filming, which is when the general public are involved, but they don't know it at the time, so you get real reactions.
Were there many differences to filming the main show?
When I did The Morning After the Night Before everyone warned me that filming of the actual Hollyoaks programme would be really hectic and fast paced, but I found it to be the other way round. The stuff we did in Manchester wasn't predictable because it was filmed in the streets with real people who weren't aware of the filming, so it could go wrong very easily. I found that a bit more stressful, but the actual on set Hollyoaks is more laid back and easier and routine.
How would you describe your character to us?
He’s a typical student, but he doesn’t do anything by halves. He's a bit of a ladies man who loves to get drunk. He's a party animal who's up for anything really. He gets people in a lot of trouble, but at the same time he’s someone you can depend on. If he's your friend he's your friend for life, but he might annoy you along the way.
Is Dave anything like you?
There are parts of me in Dave, but he can't take anything seriously. He just laughs at everything, which is quite fun to play with. He's a bit kind of away with the fairies half the time, so there are differences. However, we do look a like!
