A Week In The Life... Of A Production Secretary
Friday 20 March
Friday
Becky: We're kind of juggling today.
Jaki: I'm covering someone's sickness in resources again today.
B: We don't know where we've been this week because our shifts have been totally messed up.
J: At least it keeps things fresh! I'm now just thinking, "Is everything ready for next week? Is everybody going to turn up for the shoot on Monday?" You worry too much because when the day comes it's fine.
B: Basically, today we have to go through a mammoth list, which is about 6 foot 3 inches long. We have to phone every artist and let them know what day they're going to be in and if there's any odd shoot hours. This Thursday we've got a night shoot on, so we'll give them warning of that. Also, we've had to book hotels next week for all our sundry artists who are travelling from London and elsewhere. I'm currently half way through the list and losing the will to live, but hey ho!
J: This afternoon I'm going to allocate any third assistant directors to see where they are required for next week's shoots and see if we need to bring any freelancers in or if we can cover it with our staff. We've got to change some shoot hours for next week and let all the crew know. That's it really... I've also got to get my shopping at lunchtime in Morrison's.
B: I'm going to visit Ross (the first assistant director as featured in last week's 'A Week In The Life') with his gammy hand. He had an operation on it this week, so I'm going to check on how it is.
J: Ricky (Calvin's) bog eye's ok now. We shot with him yesterday, so I think it's not so bad anymore.
B: Roll on tonight's glasses of wine...
J: And pizza!
Jaki, Becky, you've been a joy! Thanks! Join us next time when 'A Week In The Life...' tracks down a Hollyoaks storyliner. In the meantime click through these pictures to see what else a Hollyoaks production secretary comes across in their working day.
