A Week In The Life... Of A First Assistant Director
Friday 13 March
Each Friday, in this brand spanking new feature, we'll be following a member of the Hollyoaks team through their working week. This week, first assistant director Ross Knowles talks us through the perils of illness, Zoe's bedroom, and lunch...
I'm Ross Knowles and I'm a first assistant director on Hollyoaks.
A typical day for me in Hollyoaks can be either a prep day or a shoot day. A prep day normally involves reading scripts, timings, risk assessments, scheduling the shoot, making sure everything's ok with wardrobe, make-up, design, the producers, and the director.
On a shoot day I make sure the artists are in, and that everyone's ready to come in on set. I run the floor every day, making sure we hit the timings for how long each scene is going to take, calling lunch (which is very important)! Basically, I run the shoot for the day and make sure the director is happy and the crew are happy.
