Newt (real name Barry) is a kind-hearted emo who is loyal to his friends. He was taken in by the Osbornes and quickly settled into life in Hollyoaks. He suffers from schizophrenia.

Nico joined the Manchester School of Acting in February 2007 and studied there before he won the role of Newt.
