100 GREATEST SPORTING MOMENTS – EDDIE 'THE EAGLE' EDWARDS ARRIVES AT THE AIRPORT FOR THE CALGARY WINTER OLYMPICS We were scheduled to land at something like 10 o'clock that night but because of delays and things we ended up landing at something like 2 in the morning and we went through customs and all that kind of thing and I was waiting for my bags. It turned out one of my bags had ripped open and all my clothes and socks and slippers and uniform were going around the carousel. I had to gather all these clothes up and put them on the trolley and get my skis and things. And there were these automatic doors which usually open and close, but because it was 2 o'clock in the morning some of them were closed and locked. I was walking towards this door thinking it would open and it didn't. I walked right into it. My skis went flying and my clothes went flying. I think through that one incident they called me a Mister Magoo and they thought 'Oh my God, everything he touches…. he's always hitting things, he's always crashing into things.' And then they thought 'Oh my God he's doing a ski jump, what he's gonna do?.'
