100 GREATEST CHRISTMAS MOMENTS
1-25 | 26-50 | 51-75 | 76-100 | 101-120

Among seasonal highlights on The Street are Les running over Teresa the Turkey and then trying to eat it for Christmas dinner; Supervixen Tracy Barlow returning as a different actress; Jack and Vera barricading themselves in their bedroom and getting their Christmas dinner through the window; Dev and Deirdre sleeping together; and Hilda Ogden's farewell in 1987 for which 27 million tuned in to wave goodbye.
- A Christmas Parade (1982)
A classic embarrassing TV moment as Roger DeCoursey proves the old saying 'never work with children or animals' as a gang of kids storm the stage to point out to him that his puppet bear isn't real.
- The Chronicles of Narnia (1988-90)
Lavish TV adaptation of the classic CS Lewis novels, whose three series reached their climaxes over successive Christmasses.
- Cliff at Christmas (Various)
From Christmas singles like Mistletoe and Wine and Millennium Prayer to TV specials like Cliff Richard the Event, the Peter Pan of pop has been a Christmas festive fixture in Britain for almost 40 years.
- Countdown - Christmas Special (1997)
The 1997 Christmas Special where Carol took on Richard and won on the final Conundrum.
- Crossroads (1979)
Notorious for its wobbly sets and wobblier acting, the first Crossroads hit a high point of kitschness, when Noele Gordon's Meg Richardson led the cast in a seasonal sing-along round the Motel fire.
- Dad's Army - My Brother & I (1975)
Arthur Lowe takes on a double role in this Christmas special as Mainwaring's drunken brother Barry pays an unexpected visit on Old Po Face.
- The Darkness - Christmas Time, Don't Let The Bells End (2003)
In a self-confessed attempt to reinvent the Christmas rock anthem, jump-suited Justin Hawkins and band were hot favourites for the Christmas number one (until the late intervention of that most Christmassy of things, an earnest Tears for Fears cover.) But nothing was going to spoil Justin's big moment, proclaiming on his MTV 'Alternative King's Speech' that 'This time last year I was a music nobody. Today I sit at the top of the music tree, feeling pretty good.'
- David Bowie and Bing Crosby - Little Drummer Boy (1977)
One of the more surreal moments in pop music history, as the leading American pop star of the first half of the Twentieth Century duetted with one of the great innovators of its second half. Bing (who died one month later) had not heard of Bowie before the collaboration but was impressed, calling him "a clean cut kid and a real fine asset to the show."
- Desmond's - O Little Town of Peckham (1994)
The last ever visit to the south London Barber shop sees the Ambrose kids spreading their wings at Christmas while Desmond and Shirley both receive and prepare Christmas surprises.

A Christmas special of Do Not Adjust Your Set, the children's series featuring the combined, and then still largely unknown talents of Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and David Jason.
- EastEnders Christmas - Den and the Divorce Papers (1986)
When EastEnders arrived on the scene in 1985 the Christmas Day Soap war with Coronation Street began. Within a year, the Albert Square soap hit the jackpot, pulling in a record breaking 29 million viewers as Dirty Den served up divorce papers with the turkey.
- EastEnders Christmas Party (2003)
A posse of 'Enders stars joining big-hitters from the world of sudsy pop (Liberty X and Lulu) for a night of 'music, comedy, and fun' on the set of Albert Square. Critics were perplexed by the blurring of fact and fiction, while The BBC had to issue a apology to enraged Albanians after Jo Brand asked whether she could fart their national anthem.
- Ellen MacArthur - Sailing Through Heaven and Hell (2000)
Christmas day tinsel and tears miles away from home, as Ellen struggles on with day 47 of her globe circling journey, stopping only to phone home, scoff some plum pudding and have a quick cry.
- Emmerdale - The Plane Crash (1993)
The Woolpack's Dickensian evening is in full swing when an air disaster interrupts the festivities. Mark Hughes, Elizabeth Pollard, Archie Brooks and Leonard Kempinski all die; Chris Tate is paralysed. Sleepy Emmerdale is changed forever.

- Father Ted - A Christmassy Ted (1996)
Ted, Dougal and a communion of other misfit priests become lost in Europe's largest lingerie department. An ecclesiastical scandal seems inevitable.
- The Fight (Bovey v Gervais) (2002)

- The Flint Street Nativity (1999)
Stars like Frank Skinner, Jane Horrocks and Neil Morrissey (as a child with a bad lisp struggling to say frankincense) play children in the build up to their school nativity in Tim Firth's comedy drama, based almost entirely on the true recollections of members of his family, who are teachers.
- French and Saunders - Christmas Special (1996)
Choirboys out of tune, Santa's sleigh out of control and the Two Fat Men working themselves into a frenzy over the Queen's speech.
- George & Mildred - Christmas episodes (Various)
Mildred finally gets her chance of the limelight when the Hampton Wick Players put on Cinderella, but she's not up for the title role as she lands another part which husband George gleefully describes as typecasting.
- The Ghosts of Oxford Street (1991)
The Malcolm MacLaren directed and narrated musical history of Oxford Street featuring the disreputable likes of The Happy Mondays, Tom Jones, Rebel MC, John Altman and Sinead O'Connor.
