- Both contestants begin each round with a minute on their clocks
- Once a contestant gives a correct answer their clock stops and
their opponent's clock starts counting down
- The player whose clock runs out first loses the round.
- The winner keeps whatever time they have left on their clock. This is added to
the time they have to play with in the final and decisive round.
- Each player has three 'switches' to use over the five rounds. If
they don't like a question they can 'switch' it to their opponent.
- Contestants may 'pass' on questions if they cannot answer.
- There are five rounds: General Knowledge, Numbers & Logic,
Contemporary Knowledge, Words & Letters, and the Final (an amalgam
of the first four). An additional round has been added for the final:
Keywords which is questions based around a particular word given
to contestants 24 hours before their match.
