Episode 7: Naomi moves into Whiteoaks
Naomi is well enough to leave hospital and John installs her in one of his apartment developments. But the girl is nowhere near ready to live alone and John decides to bring her to Whiteoaks to allow her time to rehabilitate herself. Her arrival intrigues Cassidy and Lauren but Terese is hostile to her, fearing her influence on Charlotte. However other concerns take over when Darren announces to her that their marriage is over.
Terese turns for advice to Beth and reveals that Cassidy is now wearing a 5-carat engagement ring. Beth furiously confronts John with his betrayal and threatens to expose his role in the Redstart Flats fire. He responds by surprising Leo and her in a restaurant by bringing Naomi to have lunch with him.
Councillor Haq confides in Darren that his Committee are eager to build his Father’s tower on the Avalon Basin site but politically they don’t want to work with John who is tainted by suspicions of his role in the Restart Flats Fire. Darren is reluctant to betray his Father but when Beth comes to hear of this offer through Terese she concocts a plan to both pay back John and save her son’s marriage. She takes Darren to dinner and for the first time tells him exactly what happened the night of the fire. By the time she has finished Darren’s love for his Father has turned to contempt. Terese joins Beth in persuading Darren that for the sake of the entire family he must betray his Father.
Coll pursues Cassidy and she fears John will discover what happened between them. She goes to collect Lauren from rehab and after a row the two women realise they have much in common. Lauren ensures Coll will abandon his attempts to seduce Cassidy. As John introduces his family to Naomi the two women bond as they speculate who she is, long lost daughter or new lover?
Darren resolves to take Haq up on his offer and form a firm with Terese and his Mother in order to rescue the Avalon Basin from his Father. Focused on his new destiny he forgets his thoughts of divorce. Beth feels triumphant and goes to celebrate by visiting Leo – and this time she has no intention of leaving early.
