Javine and Jade inspired Team 2006 to a sensational win in the Freestyle Sprint Relay as this year's athletes clinched the Champion of Champions trophy.
A blistering start from Javine set the team on their way and they never lost their lead despite a strong challenge from Team 2005. 'The Machine' was pitted against Kirsty in the first lap and beat her for the second time tonight, handing a healthy lead to Plat'num.
The team's weakest swimmer lost ground to Kevin and the teams were almost level when Julia and Princess Tamara began lap three. But the MP kicked on and made a slick changeover with Jade.
It was just left for this year's men's champion to show his supreme sporting prowess once again. He swam a phenomenal final 50m that left Chesney no chance, clocking a winning time of 1.38.23s. Team 2004 finished a full 24 seconds later in third place, despite a brave effort from weak swimmer Romeo.
An exhausted Javine shared the secret to her success, saying: "I've never swum so fast in my life, I imagined there were crocodiles trying to eat my feet!"
Julia used a slightly different tactic, quipping: "I imagined Javine was trying to eat me!"
Jade had the final word, and was as gracious as ever. "I just want to say thank you to the crowd. All the money we've raised for our charities is brilliant. Everyone has been amazing." What a very nice man he is.
The relay result sent Team 2006 to the top of the podium with 29 points, six ahead of Team 2005 and 9 ahead of the 2004 crew.
After a display like that, it will take some extra-special Champions to beat them next year.
