Julia set a new Games record as she pipped Javine to victory on the last lap of tonight's thrilling Cycling event.
But there was misery for Michelle, who took a painful tumble and failed to finish after clipping rival Amanda's bike.
Javine looked on course for a comfortable win when she raced out of the blocks and swung into the inside lane leaving the others in her wake. Only Julia could keep in touch, chasing doggedly and hoping the leader would tire.
She made her move to overtake as the two leaders approached the final lap, darting past Javine to the delight of the crowd. She then pulled away to finish with a time of 1.00:11 - the best ever by a Games athlete.
But all eyes quickly turned to Michelle, who lay sprawled on the floor of the Velodrome after her attempt to pass Amanda went wrong. She claimed to be "bruised for life".
"Amanda came out in front of me when I wasn't expecting it," said the Kayak champ. "But it was my fault."
An elated Julia said: "I knew I had to pull something out of the bag."
And the win puts her joint top of the leaderboard.
