After prematurely giving birth to her and Luka's son, Joe, it's not long before Dr Abby Lockhart continues to assert her authority and responsibility in the emergency room.

Dr Gregory Pratt copes with a chequered past that won't stop haunting him, and Dr Ray Barnett's feelings for Neela grow stronger. However, tragedy awaits him.
Attending physician Dr Archie Morris' stringent methods don't always agree with everyone in the emergency room.
And paramedic Tony Gates returns from last season and becomes an intern. He offers emotional support to a still-grieving Neela, until his home life intrudes on the ER.
Chief of Emergency Medicine Kevin Moretti makes a big impact on his first day at County too.
