Cast - Previous - Doug Ross
A charming paediatrician, compassionate, skilled, good at his job, and - most importantly - one of the best-looking doctors ever. Doug Ross was the reason we watched ER!
Doug is haunted by his father abandoning him as a child. When his father resurfaces, Doug finds it hard to connect with him and when he dies in Series 2, Doug is again forced to come to terms with his emotions. Luckily his mate Dr Greene is there to help him through.
Never one to hold back his tongue when it comes to authority, and disregarding rules and systems along the way, Doug often lands himself in trouble.
Luckily for him, he rescues a boy trapped in a flood. His heroic action lands him on local TV, making him a star and winning him his job back at County.
Not surprisingly Doug has a string of women, but is left traumatised when he has a fling with a lady who has an epileptic fit and dies. Throughout his time in the ER, he has an on/off relationship with nurse Carol Hathaway and eventually they become a couple and get engaged.
When Doug shows a mother how to deliver a lethal dose of medication to her terminally ill child, he decides to leave Chicago and head to Seattle. Carol doesn't go with him, despite being pregnant with his twins.
She goes in search for him in Series 6, however, and the pair end up settling happily ever after in The Emerald City.
