You know the kind of guy who confesses to a crime he didn't commit so his ex-wife wouldn't have to go to prison, the kind of guy who leaves his brother all alone and his friends with nothing to jump for? Well for the next two years his name is inmate number 28301-016.

After Ralph's audacious escape bid involving a Dolly Parton poster and a melon, Earl has nobody to protect him. He's too white to join the Latino and Black gangs, and not white enough to join the albino gang, and after abortive attempts to join the White Supremacists he's on his own until he bumps into an old friend, Sonny who he used to play beer can tag with on the outside.

Sonny shows him the way to survive in prison is to become invisible, so with Joy looking after Randy on the outside, Earl begins to believe he can make it on the inside, until Sonny rats him out to another old friend, Glen Shipley – Number 100 and something.

Glen used to be a Camden County Boy Scout until Earl tricked him into a spot of breaking and entering, starting a spiral of crime that has led to him becoming the undisputed prison psycho. All Earl needs to do now is steer clear of Glenn, but Karma has other ideas...
