The Game
How do billionaires get their thrills? They play a game of poker and bet a few Manhattan properties of course! Tripp and Simon Elder meet face to face at ‘the game’ and there’s more at stake than just money as Simon Elder wants Nick to help him win Darling Plaza off Tripp in return for finding him the real report on his father’s death...

Just when we think Simon has persuaded Nick to betray his boss we realize that Tripp is actually in on the scheme. As much as Tripp is emotionally attached to the first building he bought in New York, he’ll do anything to help Nick including staging a fake argument with the lawyer so Simon thinks Nick is on his side. In fact Tripp seems to admire Nick so much he admits he wants Nick to take over running the Darling Company when he retires!

Admiration is something Tripp doesn’t have for his son Patrick who still won’t end his affair with transsexual Carmelita. Tripp takes the drastic measure of hiring a paparazzi photographer to follow Patrick and scare him off the affair and worse he tries to pay Carmelita to leave his son alone. When Patrick discovers the just how controlling his father is he says it’s the last straw and he mysteriously appears in the office of Simon Elder ...but what are they saying?

Of course we know Nick has another admirer in the form of Karen but is he the reason she can’t make any one of her four marriages work? When she sleeps with ‘ex-husband’ Sebastian to get him to sign final divorce papers, both he and Letitia say point out she’s never been able to settle down because of her love for Nick. Should she tell Nick though? He has enough on his mind as the real report on his fathers death shows the mechanic Norman Exley had tampered with the plane – he’d have a lot to answer for if he hadn’t been murdered in his flat that very same day…
