Can money buy you happiness? Most of us would like to give it a try but for some members of the Darling family, being rich just isn’t that much fun. Brian seems to be heading for divorce over his love child and the twins are both pretty miserable despite being only a few months away from inheriting $25m each...
Thanks to their falling out over Jeremy’s girlfriend, the twins aren’t speaking and want to out-do each other’s birthday parties. Jeremy wants to hire Brooklyn Bridge for a measly $1m, while Juliet is happy to spend over $1.6m on an 18th Century-themed bash. Neither event is a success as Juliet misses her brother and rumours about Natalie not being pregnant lead Jeremy to confront his girlfriend rather than celebrate; he’s shattered to discover she’s not carrying his child and drunkenly sings ‘All By Myself’ in the wake of yet another perceived scam to get money off the Darlings.
Tripp is so disgusted by the twins' behaviour that he threatens to withhold their inheritance and his overreaction has everyone suspecting the DNA results showed that the twins aren’t his. However, while he is away from Natalie, reunited with his sister and not caring about money, Jeremy does what Tripp has always hoped he would: ask for a job.
Talking of jobs, the mysterious Simon Elder wants to give Nick a job. He surprises Nick by confessing that Dutch was going to quit the Darlings and work for his own charity organisation instead. It’s a hard-hitting message for Nick, who feels he has neglected not only his own charity work but his family in recent months. But will he ever escape the clutches of the Darlings?
