Still hunting for information about his father's death Nick pores over his dad's diary and discovers appointments with a mysterious 'C'. Tripp doesn’t know who this character is but suggests that he visit a private investigator in Italy. It’s a perfect opportunity for Nick and Lisa to have a romantic break together… it’s just a shame Karen and her fiancée want to go with them.

Meanwhile Jeremy is somehow keeping his relationship with Juliet’s arch enemy Natalie Kimpton secret but when both girls end up at a club together it’s clear he’s going to have to come clean soon. Eventually Juliet finds the two in bed together and demands he chose between them. For once in his life Jeremy sides against his twin sister professing his love for Natalie: and it’s a good job they’re serious as she’s carrying his baby!

Talking of admitting the truth, Letitia finally tells Tripp the details of her affair with Dutch. Devastated, he asks her if all the kids are his but Tripp doesn’t believe her and asks the family doctor to look into the DNA records of all their offspring. When the results finally come through he demands Letitia tell him the truth or leave. Could Brian be Dutch’s child, himself still pretending his illegitimate son isn’t his!

The Italian weekend is not going well after Karen drunkenly reveals that Nick proposed to her when they were 19 and Lisa is angry Nick never told her about it. It seems bitter Karen just can’t help but cause trouble for Nick and Lisa but the couple are stronger than her bitchiness: a fact Lisa points out to Karen as she returns the shoes she bought her. Before they leave Nick has one more meeting with the private investigator ‘Templeton’, who reveals that Dutch was gathering information on Tripp as well as Simon Elder. The mind games between Tripp and Simon Elder throw Nick into utter confusion, and he still doesn’t know who ‘C’ is until Simon Elder appears in a limousine with the letter ‘C’ on the number plate…
