Kamikaze Bingo

Hands up if you take bingo a bit too seriously…
Larry dishonours a Japanese art dealer by disputing his claim that his WWII veteran grandfather was a kamikaze pilot. Larry’s poorly-crafted apology does nothing to help. Larry also suspects that the bingo game at his father’s nursing home is rigged…

Larry can’t hide his disbelief when Cheryl’s friend Yoshi tells him that his grandfather was a kamikaze pilot during the Second World War and yet is still alive, which probably explains why, when ordering his favourite dish, Larry emphasises the word “chicken”. Larry’s winning ways at a poker game are then disrupted by the news that Yoshi’s attempted suicide.

A relative of Yoshi’s promises to give Larry his poker winnings if he apologises for his “chicken” comment. Of course, this is too simple an ask for Larry and he cocks up the request by attempting an apology while eating some pistachio nuts. Yoshi’s relative gives Larry another chance to recoup his poker money by challenging him to a game of bingo at Nat and Yoshi’s grandfather’s nursing home – winner takes all – but having already been subject to a rigged game of bingo, Larry’s sceptical about his chances.

The day of the big bingo game arrives and Larry wins, but the golden oldies turn on him and akin to a horde of zombies, they slowly crowd around Larry. Then the ex-kamikaze pilot has the last laugh.
