The End
Larry is changed when he travels to Arizona to discover his family roots. An uncharacteristic selfless act has disastrous results and, after an unbelievable discovery, Larry has to make some big decisions about life…
Richard Lewis is desperately in need of a kidney and now looks like the “spectre of death”, but Larry’s busy attending to other matters, namely finding out who his adopted parents are. P.I Omar Jones tells Larry mum and dad are a Mr and Mrs Cone from Arizona, so with haste Larry boards a plane out of LA.
In Arizona, Larry discovers he’s a gentile, so adopts the virtues of Christian forgiveness and returns to LA to donate a kidney to Richard. As Larry and Richard are side by side in hospital beds waiting to be operated on, Larry’s private investigator, Omar Jones, comes rushing in to say he’s made a mistake: “The Cones are not your parents. You’re not adopted.” Larry wants out of the operation, but it’s too late and the surgery takes place.
The surgery’s taken its toll on “selfless” Larry and as he slowly dies he says his final self-righteous words before departing to take his place in heaven. He chews the fat with his mother, golf hero Ben Hogan and Marilyn Monroe, but it’s not long before his guides of heaven get fed up with him and send him back to Earth where he gets straight back to his old tricks.
