The Grand Opening
Larry finds out the restaurant’s chef was hired “under false pretences,” having misrepresented his baldness. During a schoolyard dodgeball game, Larry goes to battle against a powerful restaurant critic and inadvertently injures him. Cheryl battles a violent case of diarrhoea – and Jeff’s tough wife, Susie. With the grand opening at hand, the owners finally hire an acceptable chef – a “survivor” – but have to deal with his colourful personality…
Jeff and Larry, who’s fired his chef after discovering he wears a wig, drops a lunchbox in at Sammy’s school. While waiting around, Larry entertains himself by playing dodgeball with pupils and parents – one of whom is Andy Portico, a “brutal” critic who’s set to review Larry’s restaurant. Larry gets carried away and breaks Andy’s thumbs, which, luckily for Larry, prevents him from reviewing the restaurant. In a surprising act of generosity, Andy recommends Larry a chef.
Unluckily for Larry, it turns out the newly recruited chef has Tourettes Syndrome, but due to the numbers on his arm Larry believes the chef to be a “survivor” from Auschwitz, so he doesn’t fire him. Meanwhile, Cheryl misses a “make-up” lunch with Susie because she gets a nasty case of the runs.
The night of the restaurant opening finally arrives, but will the chef be able to put a restraint on his language? Will Susie contain her rage for Cheryl? And will Larry be able to do anything right?
