Trick or Treat
Larry and Cheryl attend the premiere of a movie written by his disabled friend Cliff Cobb, during which Larry manages to offend a Jewish neighbour, alienate Cliff, and send out misguided romantic overtures to Cliff’s wife Shelly. Then there’s the Halloween backlash to contend with…
After offending his friend Cliff by making a few alterations to the salad his grandfather invented, Larry tires of the conversation, so entertains himself by saying such outlandish things to Cliff’s wife Shelly as, “We should have sex sometime”, to which Shelly rather seriously replies, “Yes, we should.” Larry’s playful mood doesn’t last long though, as he discovers that a ranting loon named Walter lives in the same vicinity as him.
The mood worsens as Larry refuses to give a pair of teenage trick or treaters candy. He pays the consequence when he wakes to find toilet paper hanging all over his garden and his door daubed with the graffiti “bald asshole”. Larry’s rage is then taken out on the wheelchair bound Cliff in a grapple over a misconstrued come-on.
In the end, Larry gets vengeance on the trick or treater and her meddling father by skilfully utilising Cheryl’s birthday present. Revenge has never sounded so sweet.
