Heroes - Dom Joly
Dom Joly, "The Beast from Beirut" (ok, so that's not actually his nickname, but we're hoping it'll catch on), found himself in the wacky, wacky world of comedy after utilising his political education to work on The Mark Thomas Comedy Product.
Acquiring a taste for comedy, Dom started making anarchic Candid Camera-style surreal snippets for the British Paramount Comedy Channel.
Knowing a good thing when they see one, Channel 4 quickly snapped up Dom Joly to make a fifteen-minute version of his madcap antics for a Comedy Lab in 1998.
The Comedy Lab became known as Trigger Happy TV and featured Dom Joly as an assortment of characters that unleashed his twisted humour on an unsuspecting public.
Channel 4 then commissioned Trigger Happy TV for a full series and a stylish combination of quick-fire comedy, intriguing locations complete with the hippest of sound tracks made the show a Silver Rose of Montreux winner in 2000.
Dom Joly decided to bring Trigger Happy TV to an end after two series and defected to the BBC where amongst other shows he produced the critically acclaimed World Shut Your Mouth, which was a bit like Trigger Happy TV but shot abroad.
Dom has since written numerous books and travelled the world drinking in all the name of entertainment. Not bad work if you can get it!
